The Reebok Aztec Leather runs true to size in a medium width for men. The retro sneaker is kept snug by thin flat lacing held tight by plastic eyelets and soft leather cushioning. Size ranges from US 5 to 12.

The resurgence in popularity of retro sneakers like the Reebok Aztec Leather is brought about by the comeback of fashion from the 1980s. With its all-white colorway with hints of red and blue forming iconic logo overlays, retro styling has never been more effortless in pairing them with jeans, shorts, joggers, and active wear. The low-top design also allows freedom of movement to wearers who bring this shoe in their jogs, walks and other fitness-related activities.

Most prominent among the features of this retro sneaker is its soft leather upper with Reebok logo overlays with hints of colors red or blue. The die-cut EVA midsole of the Reebok Aztec Leather provides lightweight cushioning and improved traction with the high abrasion rubber outsole.

Reebok traces its roots to the United Kingdom in 1890 when Joseph William Foster of Bolton, England started producing sports shoes with spikes at the bottom eventually incorporating as  J.W. Foster and Sons Inc. Finding initial popularity among athletes, the company manufactured shoes for the entire British running team in the 1924 Olympics.

The brand was taken over by J.W. Foster’s grandsons Jeff and Joe Foster Jr. who labored to find the best name for the shoe company their grandfather started. Flipping through the Afrikaans dictionary pages the company was named after “rhebok,” a local name for a subspecies of the antelope.

While Reebok has been producing shoes since the early 1900s, it was only in the late 1970s up to the 1980s during the fitness running boom that it was noticed by many sneaker fans. Among the silhouettes that came out during that time was the Reebok Aztec that was first released in 1979. The Aztec has a solid build with a dual density midsole and a rubber carbon heel and speed lacing system. The OG colorway comes in blue and in a suede leather upper. Soon the brand modernized the design with the Reebok Aztec leather with a smooth leather upper in white material and logo overlays.

  • Reebok gold nameplate at the tongue and printed branding back heel.
  • Reebok logo overlays at the side panel add aesthetic appeal to the sneaker.
  • Plastic speed lacing eyestays hold the regular white flat shoelaces.
