Profile of the Reebok Answer 4.5
Released in August 2018, the Reebok Answer 4.5 is now part of the I3 Legacy Collection. It was first released in Hongkong for $130. Craig Howard brings back the Answer 4 but added a little twist that is inspired by Allen Iverson’s iconic sleeve.
The long sleeve was developed as a temporary solution to Allen Iverson’s bursitis. Philadelphia 76ers trainer Lenny Currier created it from a tube bandage, and had intended it to serve as a compression stockinette. Iverson ended up using the sleeve throughout his career.
Cushion. The responsiveness of the Reebok Answer 4.5 comes from its DMX foam midsole. The technology comes in two layers. The upper layer is soft and cushiony right. The foam layer that is closer to the ground is stiff and absorbs impact.
Traction. The outsole of the Reebok Answer 4.5 is decoupled. The forefoot area has herringbone on both sides and a wavy pattern in the middle. The heel area prominently features an impression of Allen Iverson’s face at its center. This image is outlined with herringbone and some horizontal grooves.
Length and Width. Reebok basketball shoes meet industry standards on length and width. However, because of the design, the Reebok Answer 4.5 reportedly runs long. Most reviewers advise new buyers to go down half a size.
Lockdown. The Reebok Answer 4.5 utilizes the traditional lacing system. To keep the tongue in place, the rope-like shoelaces go through lace loops and tongue loops. To achieve a one-to-one fit, these Reebok basketball shoes feature a stretchable sleeve.
The upper of the Reebok Answer 4.5 is made of tumbled leather. It delivers superb comfort, durability, and support. The tongue and heel come with a pull tab that make it easy to put on and take off the shoe.
The Reebok Answer 4.5 is a mid-top basketball shoe that comes with a stretchable inner bootie. The tongue lace loops come with Iverson’s I3 logo. The tongue’s pull tab comes with a “Reebok” callout. The shoe features a striped heel counter with “Iverson” callouts.
