Wide training shoes from Skechers are meant for people with wider foot dimensions who don’t want their feet and toes to be cramped inside the shoes. By being able to splay your toes, you would feel more planted to the ground, especially when you are working out. This action widens your base, allowing you to feel more stable during squats or lifting weights, and overall, helps with your balance.

If you’ve ever done balance exercises, you might have noticed that whenever you start losing balance, your toes spread out to compensate, resulting in regained composure. Also, wide Skechers training shoes are generally roomy all around, which means they can accommodate people with voluminous feet.

How do you know if you need wide Skechers training shoes?

Not everyone needs wide shoes. Some people feel comfortable using a medium-width trainer with a wide toe box, while others need more volume in the midfoot section of the shoe as well. Since everyone’s feet are different, knowing your foot length and width measurements is key.

Get a couple of pieces of paper, a pen/marker/pencil, and a measuring tool. Be sure that your feet fit inside the paper. Place the papers flat on the floor, step on them - one foot per paper, and outline your feet one at a time. Once you have obtained the silhouette of your feet, the next step is measuring from the tip of the longest toe to the farthest point of the heel to get the length. For the width, measure the widest part of the foot, which is usually the ball area.

For the next part, you need to consult a chart to know which shoe size your foot measurement is equivalent to.

size and width chart

  • Take measurements later in the day, when your feet have had enough time to expand fully;
  • During the outlining procedure, be sure that the tip of the pen/pencil/marker does not go under the foot;
  • If you plan on wearing socks with your training shoes, be sure to put them on while getting the outline;
  • If one foot is longer and/or wider, be sure to consider the one with the bigger measurements because it is far easier to deal with a shoe that has a little extra room, than wearing something that’s smaller and narrower.
  • If your width measurements fall between Medium and Wide, try going with the Skechers’ Relaxed Fit profile. It fits rather snug in the heel and the midfoot but offers more space in the toe box.

Best Skechers wide training Shoes - February 2020

Are all Skechers training shoes available in Wide?

Unfortunately, no. Only some models are available in Wide and Extra Wide. It should also be noted that in some trainers, the wider version comes only in some of the color options, not all. So, when looking for a wide Skechers trainer, be sure to click on the color variants on the product page to determine if a Wide is available or not.

What is the difference between the Skechers’ Classic Fit, Relaxed Fit, and Wide/Extra Wide Fit?

The Classic Ft is the traditional Medium profile, D for men and B for women. It fits close to the foot from the forefoot to the heel. The Relaxed Fit is roomier at the forefoot so that the toes can spread out, but the fit is still snug at the heel. As for the Wide/Extra Wit fit, it is spacious all around, heel-to-toes, and is able to accommodate feet with both wide heel and forefoot.

How much do wide Skechers training shoes cost?

A typical pair of Skechers trainer costs about $55 to $75, regardless of the width. But during sales, the price could drop by as much as $20. We here at RunRepeat scour the internet to collate all the best offers for shoes, so you’ll be able to get the best price without having to visit various sites.
