Puma x Diamond Basket Sock Lo History

German sportswear label Puma continues to be aggressive in pushing sport and culture forward through tie-ups with some of today’s leading brands that share the same passion. In 2018, this cat-laden label teamed up with California-rooted skateboarding goods supplier Diamond Supply Co. Together they cruised the streets of US and delivered chains of releases featuring Puma’s classics which originated from the court and later gained street cred due to their appeal to skateboarders, namely the Puma Suede, Puma Clyde, and Puma Basket.

The updated Puma icons arrived in two drops. The debut collection which consisted of reimagined versions of Puma Suede and Puma Clyde surfaced in late January as part of the two labels’ spring and summer lineup for that year. Appearing with transformed arrangements yet flaunting authentic vintage aesthetic are the Diamond Supply Co x Puma Clyde and Diamond Supply Co x Puma Suede released on January 27, 2018.

The second salvo consists of a more fashion-driven, progressive spinoffs of the favorite Puma silhouettes employing advanced knits, woven Jacquard, and mesh materials. Included in the second drop are evolution designs of the icons such as the Clyde Sock Lo and ultra-modern, zip-up Abyss.

The two brands fused the elements of the Puma Clyde and Puma Basket and draped the resulting hybrid style with Diamond Supply’s teal blue resembling shade and dotted the backend with the jewel logo. The fresh, street-savvy sneaker product that’s equipped with breathable mesh is labeled as the Puma x Basket Sock Lo. Unlike the old-school b-ball legends, the Basket Sock Lo came with a bootie-like inner structure paired to neoprene quarter panels.
