Puma Platform Mid OW High Top History
Not all people are familiar with the history that brothers Rudi and Adi Dassler founded Puma and Adidas. When the Dassler brothers got estranged due to various reasons, Rudi decided to establish his own shoe company. The company was initially named RuDa, which is the portmanteau of his name Rudi Dassler. It was eventually changed to Puma.
One of Puma's iconic shoes, The Puma Suede was made known to the public in 1968 when the American athlete Tommie Smith won the gold medal at the Olympics while wearing it. 1970s NBA star Walt “Clyde” Frazier customized the Suede, by having a wider platform compared to the original design. Frazier was the first player to do a custom basketball sneaker. Recently, Rihanna collaborated with Puma to have her own customized Suede.
Puma has been associated with football more than any other brand. Casual consumers may not have Puma as their brand of choice as the market share for sneakers has been dominated by the giants Nike and Adidas. Still, the company also has its share of sneakers that have a decent and consistent demand.
As Puma continues to compete in the lifestyle sneaker market, it released the Puma Platform Mid OW Women's High Top. With a combination of classic appearance and today's technology, the shoe has been well-received by loyal and new customers.
