Puma Bluebird History

Puma tapped into its heritage kicks to bring the re-release of the Puma Bluebird. The 80’s low cut filled the shelves once again in 2011. Recognized as a lightweight trainer for the indoors, the Bluebird was remade for the streets with an upper that’s embellished with a gold foil logo and made of soft suede. Although it has a similar construction as other Puma classics, it has a gum sole which contributes to the uniqueness of the shoe. Most elements were adapted from the vintage version. In this re-release, however, the outsole has a reddish touch.

The shoe became a terrace wear (80’s football culture in the United Kingdom) staple during the early 1980s. The original Bluebird shoes were worn by a football hooligan firm called the Cardiff City Soul Crew. The group is among the most renowned and active football firms in the UK. The shoe is also related to the firm’s name which is “The Bluebirds.”

The reissue is part of the Bluebird capsule collection—a set of apparel inspired by the Bluebird shoe. It includes a sweatshirt, jackets and graphic T-shirts.

Puma Bluebird Style

Based on a classic trainer, the Puma Bluebird is a retro shoe with a sporty look and a fashion appeal. It has achieved iconic status with its clean appearance and effortless style. The gum sole features an imprinted Puma logo, which is a design point that’s not often seen in recent releases. It has a smart look when paired with jeans. It is excellent to wear during parties, concerts and games.

Fit & Sizing

The Puma Bluebird is sold in sizes 5 to 14 in men’s and 4 to 11 in women’s sizing. The shoe fairly runs true to size. The lace up closure allows the wearer to achieve an optimum fit.

Notable Features

The reviewers particularly raved about the overall quality of the shoe. The clean suede upper atop a reliable gum outsole contributes to the shoes’ lastingness, performance and style. A high-quality shoe that can be purchased at a budget-friendly price keeps the buyers of the Puma Bluebird satisfied.
