The Puma Basket Maze is a women’s shoe with sizes ranging from 5 to 11 in B Standard width, half sizes included in between. Like most sneakers in the market, it has a low-top profile which does not restrict ankle mobility and padded tongue, collar, and insoles for added in-shoe plush feel.

Its alternative weave-like closure system does not provide an adjustable fit similar to that of traditional lace-up, but instead gives a closure system comparable to slip-on. Despite that, considering this shoe's basketball roots, hold and support are sufficient for casual wear.

Strut an athleisure look with Puma’s one-of-a-kind take on its classic Basket silhouette. Built with a futuristic style and comfort in mind, the Puma Basket Maze will give your usual sneaker game one step ahead of the others. For one, its maze, weave-like lace closure system calls for attention for its unique look and added oomph to the shoe’s already-stylish aura.

Its patent leather upper boasts pastel colors that call for the warm and sunny days of summer. The classic profile combined with upgraded materials and fresh new colors make this modern rendition of the Puma Basket a great pair to wear with summer dresses, shorts, skirts, or even jeans.

The Puma Basket Maze is a mix of old and new. Puma fans could get a sense of familiarity as the classic Basket tooling and Formstrips branding are still evident in this shoe. But the brand did not think twice about giving this iconic model a new spin that fits the modern market and new generation of sneaker wearers.

It ditched the typical leather material of the original Basket silhouette and replaced it with lacquered patent leather for a fresh new look. The traditional lace-up closure was also swapped with a maze-inspired, thick, and overlapping or weave-like lacing system that transforms this Basket iteration into a slip-on kick.

The Basket shoe model is one of Puma’s most iconic shoes ever produced. The German footwear brand debuted it in 1971 as another basketball shoe and the leather answer to another Puma favorite, the Suede. It has a durable leather upper which makes it a hoop shoe of choice in the winter for Puma Suede fanatics.

Like its suede counterpart, the Puma Basket is filled not only with basketball history but also with the brand’s heritage in sports and eventually fashion. Its low-top silhouette, lace-up closure, and classic Formstrip branding on the side collectively make it a highly sought pair for casual wear and street style across generations. Since the '70s, several colorways and different versions with material upgrades here and there have been released.

In March 2018, Puma gave its Basket silhouette a new spin with a “Maze” upgrade and officially named it as Puma Basket Maze. The classic tooling and Formstrips are still there, but the lacing system is replaced with a maze-inspired one with thick, overlapping, and weave-like lace covering for a slip-on type of closing. The upper also differs with a glossy patent leather material instead of typical leather.

  • The patent leather of the Puma Basket Maze sits atop a textured white rubber sole unit.
  • The heel, tongue, and side panels show different kinds of Puma brandings.
  • There is a pull tab on the tongue for easy on and off wear.
  • Stitching details along the midsole increase the shoe’s durability.
  • Unlike in the original Puma Basket silhouette, this Maze iteration does not have perforation detailing along the Formstrips.
