Puma Basket Heart Luxe History

German footwear brand Puma has always been recognized for its no-fail classic models that have already proven the test of time such as the Puma Suede, Puma Clyde, Puma Roma, Puma Blaze of Glory, and, of course, the Puma Basket. The Puma Basket is the leather answer to the Suede. It has the same tooling as the iconic Puma Suede – low-top construction with a lace-up closure and rubber outsole – and differs only on the upper material. Soft suede for the Puma Suede and leather for the Puma Basket.

The Puma Basket first made an appearance during the early ‘70s as a performance basketball shoe. But much the same as other Puma icons, it transitioned into a lifestyle model that Puma fanatics of different generations across the globe continue to patronize up to this day. Because of this, the Basket branched out into countless versions, upgrades, and collaborations.

One of these is the Puma Basket Heart. It borrowed the clean and sporty upper and sole design and construction of the original Basket shoe but used oversized laces instead of the usual flat cotton ones. Like other Puma Basket renditions, the Basket Heart has further blossomed into a collection of different Basket Heart shoes.

Part of the Puma Basket Heart collection is the Puma Basket Heart Luxe, a “luxe” upgrade to the base model. A bit of shine and glamour is added to the leather upper with hints of metallic accents throughout. The Basket Heart's signature oversized satin bow laces are still there, retaining the core model's chic yet sporty aura.

The Puma Basket Heart Luxe sneakers were released in various colorways such as Black, Dusty Coral, Ermine, and Quiet Shade.
