The Puma Basket Classic Gum Deluxe is a low-top basketball-inspired shoe built on the original ‘70s Basket tooling. It is available in men's sizing from US 4 to 14, half sizes included, in Standard width. Ladies who wish to purchase a pair are advised to get approximately 1.5 sizes down their usual for an accurate fit.

The low-cut profile of this Puma sneaker allows flexible foot movement, while its traditional lace-up closure in flat tonal laces ensures a secure and snug fit that can be adjusted depending on the wearer’s preference. Overall hold and support are great considering the silhouette’s basketball shoe DNA and sufficient reinforcements all throughout the upper.

This modern and deluxe rendition of the ‘70s classic basketball-turned-lifestyle shoe took inspiration directly from Puma’s archive. Its overall look oozes with a fusion of sporty and luxe – soft tumbled leather upper that sits atop a contrasting gum rubber outsole. The simple design of this Puma finished off with a signature Formstrip in leather material, exudes a retro aesthetic that offers versatility in styling.

The Puma Basket Classic Gum Deluxe is named as such for obvious reasons. Although it retains the original tooling of the Basket, this rendition offers a few upgrades that make it stylish enough for current fashion trends while it pays homage to its Puma classic origins. It is a modernized deluxe version of the classic Basket silhouette with a soft tumbled leather as the primary upper material combined with a leather or suede Puma Formstrip on the lateral sides. Also worth noting is a contrasting gum rubber outsole that adds a retro vibe to the shoe’s luxe appeal.

One of the most popular silhouettes from Puma is the Basket. Released in the ‘70s, the Puma Basket is essentially the leather counterpart of the iconic Puma Suede. It shadows the Suede’s low-top profile, lace-up closure, and entire rubber sole system, and only differs in upper material. Back then, because of the durable leather upper, it was a popular choice for basketball players during colder weather conditions.

Like the Suede, the Puma Basket eventually transitioned from being an athletic shoe model into a lifestyle sneaker that people across generations learned to love. Since its debut, the Basket managed to maintain its spot in the sneaker industry by releasing countless Basket Classic versions and collaborative renditions throughout the years.

A recent version of the Basket comes in a deluxe upgrade. Dubbed officially as the Puma Basket Classic Gum Deluxe, the low-top shoe features soft tumbled leather with either leather or suede Formstrip and a contrasting gum rubber outsole that, collectively, gives out a retro yet a premium look to the timeless silhouette. Two colorways, Black and White, are made available for the shoe.

  • There is the signature Puma Basket branding in gold foil finish on the sides, above the Formstrip.
  • Classic Puma branding on the tongue label and Jumping Cat logo in gold foil finish on the heel are present as well.
