Puma Basket Classic History
The Basket Classic originated from the silhouette of the Puma Basket that was released in 1968. It’s the leather counterpart of the iconic Puma Clyde. Initially intended for basketball use, the model has undergone reissues in various styles and colorways. This durable sneaker manages to stay relevant even after five decades. The unique look in combination the simple design makes the pair a classic. It also climbed the heights of popularity when it made it to the sneakers Hall of Fame.
Leather was the material choice for the upper of this classic footwear which is also great for the winter season. The typical Puma vamp is featured on this shoe. Different colorways were applied, with white being the most sought-after and the black/white and red/white also won the hearts of Puma wearers.
In celebration of the company’s firmly established history, the Super Basket model was released.
Puma Basket Classic Style
Users can either dress up or dress down wearing the Puma Basket Classic. It is suitable for a variety of clothes including shorts, dresses and jeans. Users can even add an athletic sweater to keep warm.
Kylie Jenner was seen wearing the classic pair with pink sweatpants, a pink sweatshirt and a denim jacket with fur. Margot Robbie wore it with a long-sleeved mini dress. Cara Delevigne went laidback style wearing the Basket Classic.
Fit & Sizing
The Puma Basket Classic runs true to size. Available sizes for men range from 3 to 14. For women, sizes 3 to 12 are offered. The pair originated from a basketball warm-up shoe and provides excellent hold and support. The lace closure allows a snug fit. The leather upper eventually stretches to conform to the shape of the user’s foot. The thickness of the material provides more protection.
Without a doubt, the silhouette of this shoe is easily its most notable feature. As simple and almost modest the form of this shoe is, it is basically the Puma Clyde dressed in leather. The Puma Clyde, as sneaker fans know, is also one of the most popular and distinguishable forms around.
In the Puma Basket Classic, the renowned Formstrips are very much around as clear indication of the shoe’s manufacturer. The low cut basketball DNA is very much relevant for fans across the decades. Summarily, a single look at this shoe and one can almost easily figure out why it looks so familiar. Despite an unassuming style, the shoe’s silhouette remains to be a top drawer in Puma’s arsenal of classic sneakers.
