Updates to Puma Amp XT
- The Puma Amp XT is a cross-training shoe crafted for women who want to add a touch of style to their workout apparel. The footgear is another collaboration between Puma and the pop music icon and fashion influencer Selena Gomez. Like Gomez’s many talents, the trainer is also versatile as it can easily be worn for casual wear but is also always ready to throw down in the gym.
- The upper utilizes knitted and neoprene fabrics. The combination of these materials gives a stretchy yet supportive structure that holds the foot snugly in place during workout sessions.
- The midsole features an exaggerated heel design that forms a cup-like shape which prevents the foot from sliding inside. The cushioning unit absorbs shock and provides a stable platform.
- As for the outsole, it is made of a hard-wearing rubber compound. It has traction dots that deliver multi-directional grip. The heel is also flat to amplify the stability of the sole unit, especially during squats and weight training.
Puma Amp XT size and fit
The Puma Amp XT is developed for the unique shape and dynamics of women’s feet. It is obtainable in US sizes 5.5 to 11. As for the width, it only comes in a B - Medium profile. The bootie construction aims to deliver a sock-like fit, but the mouth is wide enough to accommodate the coming in and out of the foot. There’s also a lace-up structure that allows users to customize the fit.
Rubber makes up the outsole of the Puma Amp XT. This compound is built to be durable, enduring workout sessions on indoor and outdoor surfaces. The rubber extends at the front of the shoe, creating a protective structure for the toes.
It features traction points at the forefoot section which facilitate multi-directional grip on most surfaces. It also promotes flexibility and natural foot flexion.
The heel section is designed to be flat to keep the foot steady during squats and weight training. The tread pattern on this area resembles miniature suction cups that aim to add stability to the rearfoot.
The full-length midsole of this Puma cross-trainer is engineered to soften the force of impact to keep the foot and joints of the lower extremities comfortable. The medial and lateral sides of the midfoot section are raised to afford steadiness during side-to-side movements. The back portion also wraps up the heel to prevent it from sliding inside the shoe during dynamic movements.
The upper is made using a number of different materials to give it the right fit and support where it is needed. The knitted fabric on the collar allows for easy on and off action. The same material is used for the forefoot flex zone to accommodate the natural expansion of the foot throughout the workout session. The neoprene on the toe box and the quarters intends to deliver a locked-down fit.
A traditional lacing system connects the neoprene panels using hidden eyelets. Tightening the laces draws the sides closer to the foot which enhances the lateral support of the upper.
The construction of the upper is intended to fit like a sock. No padding is added to the collar and tongue, allowing the material to lay close to the skin and provide a snug fit.
