Puma 698 Ignite History
The Puma 698 Ignite is the younger sibling of the timeless R698. It’s an original silhouette that was inspired by the design of its older performance running shoe sibling. But instead of using the chunky Trinomic cushioning applied to the R698, the designers went for the IGNITE foam technology.
The Puma R698 was released in the early 90s. The original has an upper made of mesh and suede. The model also had minimal Puma branding. The technology behind its cushioning system is the Trinomic sole. The silhouette has been reworked by Puma so it eventually landed on the streets. It has been used for collaborations and seen in various colorways.
The IGNITE foam technology is a revision of the German athletic label’s Trinomic cushioning system which was first launched in 1989.
In March 2016, the R698 and 698 Ignite were released as one package deal named Old vs. New.
Puma 698 Ignite Style
The Puma 698 Ignite embodies the classic sporty style merged with evolution. These sneakers manage to keep the relevancy in an era where staying fit, healthy and active is the latest trend. Its main appeal comes from being a lifestyle shoe that can be used for athletic activities because of its technology. The latest fabrication and paneled design make the sneaker a fashionable item.
A creative recommends wearing the 698 Ignite laid-back style with a pair of long, loose pants, a sweatshirt and a coat made of wool.
Fit & Sizing
The Puma 698 Ignite’s available size range from 5.5 to 10.5 for women and 5 to 11 for men. The lace-up closure gives the foot a snug fit. This model fairly runs true to size.
The DNA of the very popular R698 can still be pointed out in this shoe despite the facelift by virtue of the more minimal upper and the seamless overlays. This sleek and smooth upper sits on top of Puma’s top of the line midsole cushioning – the Ignite technology for a shoe that fuses style and performance with ease.
