Polo Ralph Lauren Vernon History

In 1967, American designer Ralph Lauren began making men’s ties while employed at Beau Brummell, a tie manufacturer. A year later, he named his first collection of menswear “Polo,” after the horse riding sport, because he found it elegant. It would become the early roots of the Polo Ralph Lauren line, now the flagship brand of the luxury goods company Ralph Lauren Corporation.

By 1969, Lauren’s clothing line was sold at the high-end department store Bloomingdale’s in Manhattan. A couple of years later, the brand launched an exclusive women’s line, which featured tailored shirts that bore the Polo Player logo for the first time. This was followed by more successes, leading to the brand becoming synonymous with the American lifestyle of luxury.

Polo Ralph Lauren, just like other prestige brands, also ventured into the footwear category to offer a complete line of luxury wear. The company's signature style elements can be found in its tennis-inspired sneakers, ideal for dressing up or down to help modern men and women transition between different activities.

One of the brand’s minimalistic staples is the low-top Polo Ralph Lauren Vernon, a sneaker with a simple, preppy appeal that can be worn for any casual outing. It has the signature Polo detailing, lending an elegant and exclusive look to the shoe. It’s the kind of shoe that fits well with laidback yet sophisticated individuals who are always ready for the next casual event.

Polo Ralph Lauren Vernon Style

Casual elegance applies to the Polo Ralph Lauren Vernon, which has a minimal approach. It’s an ideal shoe for everyday wear as it has a versatile appeal that can be mixed and matched with almost anything. It also has the trademark Polo Ralph Lauren preppy flair that makes it appropriate for dressing up or down for any event. Pants or shorts and t-shirts or polo shirts will go well with these relaxed yet classy kicks.

Fit & Sizing

A flexible and breathable fit can be expected from the Polo Ralph Lauren Vernon, which has a mesh and polyester upper. It is offered in men's sizes from 7-17 in medium width. It fits true to size, but some users found the toe box too narrow. It has a low-top padded collar that provides comfort and unrestricted movement for the ankle. Wearers can adjust the fit using the lace-up front to secure the foot inside the shoe.

Notable Features

With a rounded toe and a tennis-inspired look, the Polo Ralph Lauren Vernon exudes modern casual elegance. It has a lace-up system on its mesh upper, which also has polyester overlays, providing full protection and a supple fit. Branding is kept subtle, with the Polo Player tag on the padded collar. The highly recognizable logo is also embroidered on the tongue, rounding off the sneaker's refined flair.
