Polo Ralph Lauren Aldric History

In 1967, aspiring designer Ralph Lauren started making his own line of men’s ties, working out of a drawer at Beau Brummell where he was employed. Because he was such an ardent sports fan, he decided to name his menswear line “Polo,” seeing that the horseback team sport exuded a lot of stylishness.

By 1971, he would launch his collection of women’s clothing, featuring the Polo Player logo on the cuffs. He opened his first store in California's Rodeo Drive in the same year. Six years later, he introduced a Polo shirt made of cotton mesh in different colors, which became a hallmark for the brand. It also catapulted the Polo Ralph Lauren into the preppy consciousness, becoming a staple for the sophisticated American community.

Ever since then, the Ralph Lauren Corporation has ventured into many other products, including perfumes, jewelry, and most notably, shoes. Polo Ralph Lauren became its flagship brand, which carries much of its apparel and other essentials. In his mission to outfit the modern and stylish man and woman, Ralph Lauren has created shoes with his trademark minimalist and elegant approach.

His shoes have a vintage appeal, with a touch of modern sophistication that balances the look for any casual activity. Many of the brand’s lifestyle sneakers have been sought-after for their comfort and simple looks. One of these is the Polo Ralph Lauren Aldric. It’s an unfussy men’s shoe that has a sleek canvas and leather upper, delivering a classic flair along with a high-class appearance. It promises to be another modern classic for the brand as well as a street style essential.

Polo Ralph Lauren Aldric Style

With an upper made up of canvas and shiny leather detailing, the Polo Ralph Lauren Aldric offers a classic and refined appeal. It’s a versatile design that fits any casual occasion, whether dressed up or down. Straight pants or skinny jeans best show off the shoe’s smooth appearance. For the ladies, dresses, shorts, leggings or skirts are also a good option.

The sneaker is ideal for the spring and summer months, especially since it has a highly adaptable style that can complete any relaxed look. It also has an urban vibe owing to its preppy roots that means it can be styled for dressier events. Whether it’s for going out, hanging out, or attending a party, these shoes can be suitable for any get-up.

Fit & Sizing

Men’s sizes from 7-15 in medium width are available for the Polo Ralph Lauren Aldric. For women, going one and a half size down would be best for a good fit. It fits true to size, but a couple of testers found it too big by one size. Stable support for the foot can be expected as the upper is made up of canvas with leather trimmings. Flat laces at the front secure the foot in, while the sneaker’s padded low-top collar allows the ankle to move freely.

Notable Features

A classic tennis shoe silhouette is featured in the low-top Polo Ralph Lauren Aldric. It has a round toe design along with a white midsole that has a tonal heel for a stylish contrast. On the leather tongue and the heel tab is the Polo brand name.

The iconic Polo Player logo is prominently embroidered on the side. Leather trim details on the shoelace eye stay, heel counter, and the padded collar heightens the sneaker’s polished look. A flat lace-up system completes the canvas upper.
