Bottom line

Pharrell made a fresh new addition to his Hu series when he started on the Solar Glides. The running-inspired sneakers carry the characteristic Solar Glide ST stability but come with new dope colorways that are standard Pharrell. They’re so eye-catching that they should come with a warning that the user will receive frequent flattering remarks.

These shoes wouldn’t be worth the Pharrell name if they’re not comfy as heck and designed with extra care. The materials and construction are high-quality, yet these Pharrell Williams x Adidas Solar HU Glide ST shoes are surprisingly priced low.

Pharrell Williams x Adidas Solar Hu Glide shoes are unisex and are mostly true to size, but the fit around the heels can be a little tight for some.

A lot of reinforcement has been built into the shoes for optimum stability.

The fit of the shoes can be adjusted via the round two-tones laces and the neoprene panels that serve as placement for the eyelets.

Pharrell’s jazzed-up take on the Solar Glide running shoes is nothing short of spectacular. The mixture of colors is striking, and the new updates have given the shoes a whole new look that’s crossed the boundaries of functional into streetwear stylish.

The colors pop in these sneakers, and they help make each of the various panels and bits of the shoes to stand out, from the curved neoprene eyerows to the heel counters. The variety of colors make it easy to match the shoes with different shades of clothing.

The base shades of the multicolored Pharrell Williams x Adidas Solar Hu Glides come in mostly white, black, or yellow.

Pharrell Williams and the Boost cushioning system. One out of two will likely make you want to take a look, but the two of them together in one shoe? Makes you want to do more than get a glimpse.

The hype surrounding Pharrell Williams x Adidas Solar Hu Glide shoes isn’t unwarranted. Pharrell does make intricately detailed kicks, and Adidas’ Boost system gives exceptionally responsive cushioning that returns as much energy as you give out.

The shoes also provide excellent stability courtesy of the Stabilizing Solar Propulsion Rails, which keep the feet within the footbed. Fitcounter plastic molded heel counters, meanwhile, allow the Achilles optimal movement.

Stretchweb outsoles help make them flex as naturally as possible for a smooth ride while the Continental Rubber grips the ground firmly for reliable traction.

When singer, designer, and songwriter Pharrell Williams signed a long-term partnership deal with Adidas in 2014, little did everyone know that he would later launch a collection that would be one of the most influential ranges in the sneaker world. His Health Ultimatum line, or Hu for short, was launched two years after.

The first release from this range, which is also known as the Human Race collection, saw a fun take on Adidas’ NMDs. Various Human Race callouts were featured on the uppers of the colorful sneakers. These callouts would serve as a sort of Pharrell signature as many of his later Hu designs would also feature these. He followed this release with several more creative models that featured new colorways or wholly new designs.

  Solar Hu Glides

In the early part of 2018, Pharrell focused his attention on a popular running shoe in Adidas’ lineup—the Solar Glide. He kept many of the details of the Solar Glides such as the Torsion System, Propulsion Rails, Fitcounters, and Boost midsoles.

Pharrell, however, added in new details such as curved neoprene eyerows, felt fabric accents near the eyerows and heel counters, round two-toned laces, Solar Fitwing tongues, and two types of mesh for the uppers. A diagonal stitching goes all the way across the uppers of the shoes to separate the two mesh fabrics from each other.

The colors also changed wildly. Most panels and areas of the shoes sported various brilliant shades. One colorway contained no less than eight different kinds contrasting and complementing each other.

  • These kicks have a midsole drop of 10 mm.
  • A new colorway (triple white) for Pharrell Williams x Adidas Solar Hu Glide sneakers has a release date set for the second half of 2019.
  • The shoes are priced at $150.
