These New York shoes from Asics’ heritage line, Onitsuka Tiger, are fortunately unisex so no one would miss out. The men’s sizing runs from 4 to 14, while the women’s go from 5.5 to 15.5. The shoes are low-profile, which means there is ample freedom of movement for your ankles.

The shoes run short by about a half size, and the width is better suited for narrow to regular-sized foot widths. Wider feet may be accommodated by the shoes provided you go up a half size too.

Flat laces in a six-pair eyelet lacing system provide fit customization.

Classics will always be trendy no matter the season. New York kicks carry that enviable classic flair that marks all of the brand’s shoes. These sneakers from the casual collection of Onitsuka Tiger have mostly tonal uppers of mesh and suede contrasted only by the Tiger Stripes at the sides and the linings. White midsoles and black outsoles complete the look.

  Style examples

   For women:

Onitsuka Tiger New Yorks in the independence blue/oatmeal colorway can be paired with tight blue jeans, a knitted grey cardigan, and a loose top.

The low-top shoes in the birch/peacoat color scheme can also be matched with white cuffed pants, a grey tank top, and a brilliant blue jacket with a hood.

   For men:

Black fitted pants, a blue collared shirt, and a black bomber jacket paired with the shoes in the black/white colorway seems fitting for night outs with friends.

Onitsuka Tiger New Yorks in the tai-chi yellow/imperial color scheme will look good with a yellow hoodie, black jeans, and a black statement jacket.

Although shoe techs make the feet happier, in some instances, shoes don’t need them at all. Take the Onitsuka Tiger New York model for one. These sneakers aren’t inundated with technological features, and yet they feel extremely comfortable and cushioned. The secret is in the construction.

Good shoes are designed to perfection, and these kicks seem to be built with the user’s pleasure in mind. From the choice of materials and cushioning down to the style and colors, everything is well-thought-out.

Onitsuka Tiger is a Japanese brand with more than seven decades of footwear manufacturing history. After merging with Jelenk and GTO, the company has been renamed as Asics, which is known for contemporary footwear with advanced tech. Heritage and retro-style shoes, meanwhile, continue to be produced under the Onitsuka Tiger name.

Onitsuka Tiger New Yorks are classically-styled shoes that carry a 70s flavor. The brand has kept the styling simple and at a minimum. The heels, toe tips, and eyerows are covered in suede, the Tiger stripes are done in leather, and the rest of the shoes are mesh.

  • Other colorways for Onitsuka Tiger New York shoes include birch/peacoat, mid grey/cream, glacier grey/jellybean, and burnt red/cream.
