The Onitsuka Tiger Mexico Mid Runner DX is a unisex shoe that’s available in both men and women’s sizes. The gentlemen can choose from sizes 4 to 14 while ladies can select from 5.5 to 15. The shoe’s mid-top construction combined with its well-padded collar provides excellent ankle support.

The Onitsuka Tiger Mexico Mid Runner DX exudes a sporty demeanor that stays true to its Olympic roots. The brand's time-tested styling of simplicity, sleek silhouettes, and signature side stripes logo balances out the sporty look and lends a touch of elegance, refinement, and versatility. Users were seen pairing it with cropped bottoms or walking short to show off its mid-top silhouette, while others know that it would also look great with casual staples such as jeans, khakis, and chinos.

The recognizable design of the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico Mid Runner DX and its excellent quality are this shoe's primary assets. With its iconic T-toe construction, sleek and simple design, signature Asics stripes that are all crafted from the finest materials and built by the most skillful Japanese artisans, this shoe is an iconic masterpiece that could be worth every penny.

The Onitsuka Tiger Mexico Mid Runner is based on the mid-top training shoe used by the Japanese national team, competing in the 1964 Olympics held in Tokyo. The original shoe was made for sports or events in the competition such as Long Jump, High Jump, Triple Jump, and Pole Vaulting. It was not commercially available and hence never appeared in the brand’s catalog at that time. The model was rediscovered in the archives of the Asics Research and Development department that was based in Kobe. This finding led to the birth of what we now know as the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico Mid Runner.

One of the many interpretations of the shoe today is called the Onitsuka Mexico Mid Runner DX, which is basically the deluxe version of its predecessor. The shoe belongs to the brand’s Nippon Made collection, Onitsuka’s high-end line. Models that are a part of the collection utilize premium materials and are all handmade, from cutting to dyeing and stitching. It involves a labor-intensive process and showcases the height of Japanese artisanal quality.

The Onitsuka Tiger Mexico Mid Runner DX is available in different versions including a model crafted from Kobe Beef leather and a collaborative one in partnership with designer Andrea Pompilio.

  • The DX in the shoe’s name stands for Deluxe.
  • It is available in Medium width.
  • The insoles are detachable.
  • Nippon Made sneakers come in a special purple box.
