The bestselling and sought after collection are divided into two themes. The original Nike Air Vapormax debuted in 2016. It is comprised of 39,000 parts that form the modern-looking running shoe. Nike designers spent over 7 years to perfect the innovative piston-bound model that is said to be lighter by 4 ounces from its predecessor.
The Off-White x Nike Air Vapormax sneaker has a Flyknit upper and fused overlays at the heel and toe areas for extra durability. The design has premium accents and details bearing the Off-White signature printed “AIR” in the midsole and details of the company headquarter details printed on the lateral side. Off-White signature details like the orange zip tie and an orange tag near the stitched Swoosh logo also add the needed color pop to the design.
Compared to the Nike Air Vapormax OG, Off-White’s take on the iconic sneaker has fused knit upper, suede and leather overlays, and a heel pull tab at the back for quick on and off. The shoe also has an oversized tongue with an exposed look in contrasting colorway for a more pronounced look. The low-top talked about shoe also delivers superior cushioning from the Vapormax sole that is as modern as the air cushioning technology can get while the leather Swoosh and suede materials in the eyelets aim for secure lockdown and protection.
The Off-White x Nike Air Vapormax was formally released on September 1, 2017. Several colorways were also dropped aside from the OG Black colorway like the white version which dropped in black/black and white/white color options. The shoe was sold at retail for $250 per pair. Despite its premium pricing, the sneaker has been sold out immediately forcing the brand to release other versions in succeeding months to answer the clamor of the public to cop a pair. Due to their limited release, some of these highly coveted versions of the shoe command prices higher than their actual retail price from resellers.
