These are my new favorite shoes.
They are excellent walking shoes.
Best of all, the Firebrands let me think less about the sloppy trail conditions and more about the intimate experience of exploring the outdoors in the cold and rain.
Updates to Oboz Firebrand II Low BDry
- Oboz gears up day adventurers with a combination of comfort, security, and protection in the Firebrand II Low BDry. It is also designed for the inclement weather as it comes engineered with Oboz’s very own waterproofing system, called B-Dry.
- In the second version of the shoe, Oboz increased the durability of molded rubber toe cap. The upgraded component is protected by the outsole’s forefoot extension.
Oboz Firebrand II Low BDry size and fit
The Firebrand II Low BDry is a fairly-true-to-size, low-top day hiking gear for men. It comes in whole and half sizes in widths D – standard and 2E – wide. It is built around a kind of last that makes its heel zone adequately snug while its forefoot region comfortably roomy for the toes. Its classic lockdown system gives users a precise and secure fit.
Day hikers can maintain their footing on the trail with ample traction thanks to the shoe’s Sawtooth outsole. This Oboz-exclusive component features aggressive lugs that not only produce grip but also shed away sticky substances like mud and debris. Its sides are lugged as well, giving users extra support for tricky off-camber turns and lateral maneuvers.
The Oboz Firebrand II Low BDry uses a dual-density EVA midsole for ground stability and underfoot cushioning. Its tough yet flexible construction grants protection from rocks and other terrain elements without sacrificing mobility. A nylon shank lies within its confines, improving the shoe’s supportiveness around the arch zone.
Helping the midsole provide underfoot comfort is the O Fit Insole—yet another Oboz exclusive. Its multi-density construction offers zonal comfort, while its cupped rearfoot grants additional heel support.
Waterproof nubuck leather and abrasion-resistant fabric make up virtually the entirety of the Firebrand II Low BDry’s low-cut upper. It promises ample ventilation and waterproofing, thanks to the B-Dry technology it comes imbued with. Its tongue and collar are adequately padded, giving users a plush environment where the foot may rest comfortably. Over at its forefoot is a molded toe cap made of rubber for extra protection against knocks and bumps.
