I typically try to get away with the lightest shoes I can, even in the snow, but the Bridgers are a compelling reason to go with big boots again.
One of our favorite all-arounders gets winterized.
I can confidently say that these are the best winter boots I’ve ever owned, and living in Lake Tahoe, CA for the past 27 winters means I’ve owned a lot of winter boots.
One word I never thought I would associate with an insulated boot is “versatile”. However after nearly nine months of putting the Men's Bridger 8” insulated hiking boot through their paces in fall, winter, spring and even summer (yes, you read that right), that’s exactly what they are—versatile…and then some.
It’s rare to find a boot that works well in so many different environments, but that is exactly what you get with the Oboz Bridger 8” insulated boot.
I continue to have only good things to report about these terrific winter boots.
- The Bridger 8” Insulated BDry from Oboz is designed to overcome various outdoor obstacles. It has a leather upper which carries the brand’s BDry membrane and a 200 g 3M Thinsulate for weather protection.
- An O Fit Insole Thermal cradles the hiker's foot. It sits atop a single-density EVA midsole. For surface traction, it is equipped with a Granite Peak outsole.
A true-to-size high-cut winter hiking cleat from Oboz, the Bridger 8” Insulated BDry comes in a range of whole and half sizes. It is offered in standard (medium) width only. Its traditional lace-up closure allows hikers to personalize the fit.
The brand indicated that this footgear has a narrower rearfoot than the forefoot. This design prevents slippage while providing adequate toe box room.
Featuring a Granite Peak outsole with winterized rubber, this Oboz hiking cleat adheres to various terrain types, especially on icy grounds. Its pronounced lugs are widely spaced to channel water out and prevent muck build-up. It is slightly extended upright at the toes to provide extra security on the trails.
The mono-density EVA of the Bridger 8” Insulated BDry renders comfort and cushioning to users. It works with a TPU chassis and nylon shank for lightweight underfoot support and rigidity.
The brand-owned O Fit Insole Thermal promotes comfort. It has a felt wool top layer and a mylar base which aids in heat retention. Its bi-density EVA composition enhances cushioning.
This winter hiking cleat from Oboz comes with an all nubuck leather upper. It carries the brand-owned BDry membrane for water protection. For heat retention, it is incorporated with a 200 g 3M Thinsulate insulation.
For extra protection outdoors, it is designed with molded rubber toe and heel caps. Its lacing system uses combination eyelets for fit management. An extra D-ring is placed near the toe area to attach gaiter. Lastly, for a smooth on and off, it comes with a pull tab at the back and a heel kick.
