NikeLab Air Max 1 Pinnacle History
Sometimes called as the Nike Air Max ’87, the Nike Air Max 1, which was first released in 1987, practically raised Nike’s appeal and mystique at just the right time in their history. Just when competing brands were coming up with one innovation or another, Nike took a bolder than most approach that not only raised a few eyebrows, but also literally changed their own concepts and marketing strategy.
Back when the patented Air technology was becoming smaller and completely hidden, the inaugural Air Max rebelled at the exact time for a thoroughly surprising twist. Instead of hiding the Air unit, Tinker Hatfield opened up part of the midsole so what was only felt can now be clearly seen. From that brazen idea, the Air Max 1 and the line never really looked back.
Nike’s storied shoe received an impressive NikeLab makeover. The new variation is the NikeLab Air Max 1 Pinnacle. It features the original shape of the Air Max 1 and the iconic visible air unit that is strategically incorporated to provide impact protection and responsive cushioning. It still delivers the same high-quality construction with a contemporary look. The Pinnacle also features the regular Swoosh branding.
NikeLab Air Max 1 Pinnacle Style
The upgraded design and contemporary look of the NikeLab Air Max 1 Pinnacle made the shoe an ideal streetwear one can wear any time of the year. The men’s version with a premium leather upper is great when paired with jeans or casual pants. The women’s version looks great when worn with shorts, skinny jeans and skirts.
Fit & Sizing
The Air Max 1 Pinnacle from NikeLab is available in standard width for both men’s and women’s versions. The soft inner lining offers a great in-shoe feel. It runs true to size. Sizes available are 6 to 14 for the men’s and 5 to 12 for the women’s. Staying true to its running DNA is also evident in the really good hold and support, particularly with the premium leather upper. This makes the shoe ideal for active users.
NikeLab’s new rendition of this timeless silhouette prominently turns the head of casual sneaker fans and the real sneakerheads. This model offers a more streamlined and sleeker look that will appeal to the senses of those who long for more sophisticated-looking sneakers while still enjoying the DNA of one of the sneaker world’s most identifiable figure.
NikeLab’s use of premium leather not only contributes to the sleek-looking façade, but also to the highly-appreciated upper durability of the Air Max 1 Pinnacle.
