Nike Zoom Spiridon Ultra History
The original Nike Air Zoom Spiridon was first released in 1997. It was named after Spiridon Louis, who was the champion of the first Olympic marathon that was held in 1896.
It was one of the first models to showcase the Zoom Air, which is a technology that is meant to maximize shoe responsiveness for a more energized and efficient run. Combined with a breathable mesh upper that sported an oversized metallic Swoosh, it was a shoe that was poised to take the market by storm.
Excellently, it did. In fact, the original Spiridon is currently hailed as among the greatest sneakers of all time. To pay homage to it, Nike resurrected the Spiridon in 2005, although it was limited to just a few pairs because of some strategic diversions.
A little more than a decade later, Nike reintroduced the Spiridon, this time in its full OG glory. Fans were delighted in mid 2016 when the model came out in its original colorway. Of course, there were some material upgrades but the overall look triggered fits of nostalgia.
The first quarter of 2017 saw the Spiridon going through a serious makeover. It received the Ultra treatment, making it lighter and sleeker because of an all-new dominantly no-sew design. It still remained loyal, however, to the silhouette of the original.
The current Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Ultra is available in its original colorway. There are also a horde of other colors to choose from.
Nike Zoom Spiridon Ultra Style
From the name to its construction, the Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Ultra is undoubtedly rich with athletic flair. As such, conventional wisdom dictates that it goes very well with active wear. But with its sleeker silhouette and more imaginative rendering of colors, it now lends itself to the artistry of those who want to go out in casual or street style.
Fit & Sizing
The Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Ultra is surely out to make the lives of both sexes more active and stylish. It is available in a standard width for both the man and the woman. The ladies can pick their best fit from sizes 3 to 8. The gents can pick the best one from sizes 6 to 15. A Dynamic Fit lacing system makes adjustment a lot easier for wearers.
The Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Ultra is most notable for the large Swoosh on both sides. The logo is even given a metallic shine that gets for the model the attention that it deserves.
Technology-wise, this model is famous for its use of a Zoom Air unit from the heel up until around 75 percent of the foot. This strategic placement of the cushioning unit contributed so much to the lightness and overall sleek appearance of the Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Ultra.
- The Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Ultra uses a dual-density memory foam on the insole to provide high levels of cushioning.
