Good to know
Use - The Nike Zoom Rival D 8 is configured for long-distance running meets. These track and field matches range from 800 meters all the way up to 5000 meters.
Spike Type - Set as standard spike pins in track running tournaments, pyramid spikes are assigned to the track shoe. These are ¼ inch in length, offering featherlight, versatile surface grip.
Spike Plate - To enable more room for flexibility and comfort, a ¾ length Pebax® plate is equipped to the outsole. It presents a good balance of rigidity and weight, amplifying speed, and stability. Moreover, its flexibility allows for unrestricted foot movements, allowing runners to endure and last in the competition.
Intended for extra smooth and quick movements, a heel-to-toe, compression-molded Phylon foam is added to this eighth iteration. It employs minimal weight while enhancing the responsiveness of the running spike.
The rest of the shoe’s makeup mirrors that of the predecessor. It still flaunts the same distance plate—Pebax® plate. It has the right amount of pliability for a range of foot movements and superior grip.
To complement the plate, a rubber outsole is also fashioned into the track spike. This amplifies both durability and traction for surefootedness.
The Nike Zoom Rival D 8 only runs in men’s sizing measurement. Thus, women are advised to deduct 1.5 from their usual size preference. This is to ensure proper fit and size.
The fit of the Zoom Rival D 8 is directly influenced by the shoe’s sandwich mesh upper. It provides a foot-conforming wrap that delivers security. An integrated arch bandage keeps the foot in place and extends support. Lastly, the track spike’s Phylon midsole is tasked with support and added lockdown.
The outsole composition of the Nike Zoom Rival D 8 is a combination of both rubber and Pebax® distance plate. These two technical elements provide unmatched grip and strength.
The plate is created using a thermoplastic polymer compound. This offers outstanding durability with its rigidity while minimizing bulk. Although quite stiff, it still serves as an underfoot cushioning, aiding in comfort and shock attenuation. The same outsole component is present in the Nike Zoom Victory Elite 2.
Boosting sturdiness and grip further is the rubber outsole. It also bears minimal weight, preventing drag. This, in turn, promotes energy conservation from the wearer.
Sporting Nike’s proprietary midsole innovation—Phylon foam—the Zoom Rival D 8 is set to promote responsiveness. It is an ultra-light midsole material that is packed with cushioning for plush comfort and protection. It prevents foot trauma by mitigating shock upon impact.
A featherlight sandwich mesh is placed on the upper. Its perforations trim down excess weight and are strategically placed for ventilation. This upper component has adaptive qualities that make it ideal for optimal lockdown.
For added support, an integrated arch bandage is introduced. It offers a lockdown, seamless fit.
