The Nike SB Solarsoft Portmore II Mids are men’s skate shoes with a mid-top construction. The ankles are provided protection courtesy of the ample paddings on the collars. The synthetic quarter panels also offer enough support for the walls of the shoes.
The dual-density foam footbeds are dense and a little stiff because they act as insoles as well as sort of midsoles. These keep the feet protected from jarring impacts and landings.
Sticky gum soles ably grip the boards, and the shoes’ tread pattern contains an excellent perimeter that keeps the shoes from rolling over.
Getting into the shoes can be quite tricky. Although the tongues are stretchy, they are attached to the sides of the shoes, and you can’t loosen them up much.
These kicks are pretty basic but no less impressive. Nike’s move to use two different fabrics for the uppers is quite brilliant because the textures contrast each other for a subtle yet stylish effect.
They’re versatile because the design is not too casual. The black on black colorway is particularly excellent because you can wear them to work and then after, to the club.
Other colorways for Nike SB Solarsoft Portmore II Mids are white and black and white.
Designed to give you an excellent riding experience, Nike SB Solarsoft Portmore II Mid shoes offer comfort and function in spades. A superb board feel is afforded by the vulcanized soles, while the suede and synthetic uppers are resistant to wear and tear.
The Solarsoft footbeds, which the shoes are named for, provide superior cushioning and arch support for the feet courtesy of the deep, cushy tops. The bottoms of the insoles are packed and feel dense to give better protection against hard landings.
In 2016, Nike launched a range of shoes containing Solarsoft technology. It started with the release of the Check Solars from the brand’s skateboarding line. These kicks featured a solid construction and offered excellent performance. Due to the success of the shoes, Nike applied the tech to many of its SB models.
The Solarsoft Portmore II Mids are mid-top versions of Nike’s Solarsoft Portmore II shoes. They look almost alike in design as the Solarsoft Portmore II Mid Bota shoes except that the Botas have leather heel tabs, dual-toned laces, and a more detailed stitch pattern.
