Nike Roshe One Jacquard History

The Nike Roshe Run was first introduced to the public in 2012 and was designed by Dylan Raasch. Dylan was asked to come up with a shoe design that would retail for only $70. According to Raasch, he had to figure out how to create a shoe at just $70. He then thought of stripping away all the unessential parts and linked the design to his meditation practice and the Buddhist monks.

Raasch added that he chose the monks as his inspiration because, according to him, they are the best example of simplicity and minimalism – traits that are undeniably present in the Nike Roshe Run. It was said that the sneaker received 16 alterations in its midsole alone before the design was settled. Raasch also shared that stepping-stones found in gardens inspired the shoe's outsole.

The name of the shoe was taken from the word Rōshi, a title that is given to Zen Buddhist Masters, but for legal reasons the ‘i' had to be changed to ‘e.' The Roshe Run stayed true to its simplistic nature by being released without any promotional campaigns: no press release or endorsements. It is believed that Nike let the shoe speak for itself.

The Roshe Run took off at a very rapid pace as the consumers couldn't get enough of its classicality, low-cost, comfort, and endless design options. The massive demand for the shoe naturally led to the range's exponential growth.

One of these iterations is the Nike Roshe One Jacquard. Its upper is crafted from jacquard and comes in an array of colorways, prints, and designs. The shoe retains its classic silhouette and comfort.

Nike Roshe One Jacquard Style

With its plethora of colorways and stylish prints, the Nike Roshe One Jacquard's textured upper adds a premium feel to its overall design. Let the shoe's different prints and colors be the extension of your style and personality. Its streamlined silhouette is best paired with tapered bottoms like skinny jeans, joggers, short, or rolled-up jeans, while women can also dress it in skirts and dresses.

Fit & Sizing

The Nike Roshe One Jacquard comes in both men's and women's sizes. Men's sizes range from 6 to 15, while women's sizing ranges from 5 – 13. The shoe generally runs true to size, but some consumers have said that it could run bigger than standard sizes.

Notable Features

The pair's upper is constructed from a knit jacquard material that provides a seamless, lightweight, and breathable fit. It retains its famous minimalist silhouette and Solarsoft sock liner for added cushioning and comfort. The shoe's collar is also cushioned for support to the ankle area. Pull-tabs are placed on both the pair's tongue and heel for ease in wearing it.
