Nike Roshe LD 1000 QS History

The LD-1000 was one of the popular sneakers in the 70s. It greatly brings to mind the silhouette of the equally popular Cortez. Nike dubbed this shoe as such because this pair was intended for Long Distance (LD) runners that can run up to 1000 miles per year.

The LD-1000 was originally conceptualized through the team effort of designers and experts from the medical field. With the supervision of Nike’s founder Bill Bowerman, they created a footwear that will avert injuries of the lower extremities. By creating a safe shoe, the speed and the performance of the runner will automatically follow. Nike formed a shoe that offers excellent traction and stability with durable and breathable upper.

Meanwhile, in 2012, Nike launched a shoe design that was a product of a two-year conceptualization process headed by the designer Dylan Raasch. It was inspired by the Zen art that showcases simplicity and calmness. Removing all the other unnecessary elements, Nike just incorporated the essentials.  No other embellishments, just the basics.

The Nike Roshe LD 1000 is the product of the combination of LD-1000 upper and Roshe Run sole. Nike was successful in fusing two iconic features into one shoe. This shoe carries a lightweight mesh upper with suede details and waffle pattern outsole.

Nike released the QS variation of the Nike Roshe LD-1000. This QS is offered only in limited quantities in selected stores. The Roshe LD 1000 QS is presented with better materials, thus tendered at a higher price.

Nike Roshe LD 1000 QS Style

Although this shoe was inspired by the running sneaker in the 70s, the updated Nike Roshe LD-1000 QS is a perfect casual sneaker. With its lightness and superb comfort, this pair is being tagged as a suitable shoe for all day use. The versatility of the pair is also undeniable. Whether going to school or enjoying a night out, wearers cannot go wrong with this pair. Most users can be seen throwing on their Roshe LD 1000 QS with their jeans, joggers or even shorts. This pair is undeniably a neck-breaker.

Fit & Sizing

The Nike Roshe LD-1000 QS is available in men’s sizes from 6 to 12 US in medium width.  Most users revealed that this pair generally runs true to size. It features a well-padded collar and tongue for a comfortable fit. It has the traditional lace-up closure inserted into the suede eyestay.  The low-cut profile of the Nike Roshe LD 1000 QS allows the wearer to maximize the range of motion.

Notable Features

The Nike Roshe LD 1000 QS displays a mash up of throwback and modern elements. The classic upper of this comfortable sneaker was noted by many buyers. The upper is accentuated with the combination of suede and mesh. Another notable feature is the ‘fat belly’ Swoosh stitched on the sides of this sneaker. This feature is a hint of its retro ancestor.
