Nike Overbreak SP: Crazily comfy, excitingly eccentric

Nike delivers another iteration conceived from the hybrid of old-school and contemporary silhouettes. Adapting the upper of the classic Nike Daybreak and the sole of the hyper-modern Nike ISPA OverReact, the Swoosh launches the grabby and flashy Nike Overbreak Special Project.

Notable elements:

With its out-there style and impressive comfort, there are a few details that make this pair noteworthy:

  • The retro-styled upper is covered with a nylon base, overlaid with layers of suede for a head-turning style and enhanced durability.
  • Swinging underneath is its chunky and alien-like React midsole, taken from the ISPA line. This lightweight and flexible technology provides the right amount of firmness and responsive feel.
  • The alien-like pattern of the React is extended up to the outsole. In addition, the Oregon-based brand reinforced it with black rubber on the heel and toe areas to enhance its longevity and traction.
  • Nike added a few exaggerated elements that quite resemble some hiking-inspired sneakers. Spotted on the toe box is a translucent toe cap that provides added protection, while its thick rope-like laces allow adjustable fit.
