Nike LeBron XI NSW Lifestyle History

Fresh from the high school, Nike inked a seven-year contract with LeBron James worth $90 million, which was after a bidding war between Nike, Reebok, and Adidas. Getting James was a controversy back then because people alleged that Nike was so desperate to find a replacement for Michael Jordan.

Twelve years after, Nike made a big announcement of signing James to be their lifetime endorser. This deal was said to be the largest single athlete sponsorship in the Swoosh history. This lifetime deal will earn James $60 million per year while giving Nike a $400 million revenue per year from the sales of James’ shoe line alone.

The billion dollar deal reflects how doubtless the company about the impact of James’ to the public. Although risky, Nike revealed the huge financial potential of inking a lifetime deal with James. The success of the partnership relies on the building brand identity through their athletes.

James has been involved in designing his footwear. In 2013, the 11th signature sneaker of James was released using the Lunarlon cushioning, carbon fiber and Flywire and was designed by Jason Petrie. This shoe was re-imagined by the NSW to create a sneaker with basketball silhouette but intended as a casual footwear.
