Nike LA Cortez x Maria Sharapova Classic Premium History

Maria Sharapova is quite popularly known for her exceptional abilities on the tennis court. Being the remarkable athlete that she is, big brands such as Nike had an eye on her and jumped on board the collaboration ship with her. But in 2016, while being in a partnership contract with Nike, Sharapova was suspended by the International Tennis Federation for her performance-enhancing substance intake.

Nike then announced by that time that the brand would continue with its partnership with the tennis star as it was also stated that the ITF Tribunal has learned that Maria’s intake of the performance-enhancing drugs was not intentional.

By 2018, the Nike LA Cortez x Maria Sharapova Classic Premium was introduced with its luxe image. The original Cortez is now dressed in premium leather upper in a pink/nude colorway and displaying a gold accent on its heel and midsole. Another colorway also followed which showcases a darker tone of leather nude and complemented with satin laces.
