Nike Fontanka Edge: Signaling new direction in women's sneaker fashion
Launching eccentric iterations in the market is not new in Nike's persona. The Swoosh has reached impressive milestones in its cushioning's history, from the iconic Air-filled cushioning to the springy React technology.
The brand's latest tech, the ZoomX, is another advancement to their list of technologies. It is a lighter and more responsive kind of foam that turns impact into energy that is perfect for your next stride.
Nike's latest release that uses the ZoomX is the fashion-forward iteration dubbed the Nike Fontanka Edge. This gal-specific kick seamlessly blends sports and fashion by releasing a style inspired by rave parties in St. Petersburg.
The Nike Fontanka Edge flaunts fast-paced 90s running aesthetics with modern sleek details on the upper. Found underfoot is the highly angular, aggressive style of midsole that has the bouncy Nike ZoomX foam. And to boost the overall comfort and support, Nike added an exaggerated clip on this pair's heel region.
Nike Fontanka Edge vs Nike ZoomX Vista Grind
Many have noticed that the Nike Fontanka Edge and ZoomX Vista Grind have rival appeal. Offered exclusively for the women audience, these sneakers both boast their fashion-forward styles. They have an eye-catching beefed-up midsole with an excessive heel to give ladies an elevated look. Found under them are translucent rubber outsoles that provide superb traction.
However, Nike inserted a few distinct features that set them apart from each other:
- The ZoomX Vista Grind has a translucent upper, as seen on the Nike React Element 87, while the Fontanka Edge has a non-translucent mesh upper.
- Looking between the missing segments of ZoomX Vista Grind's midsole, you can find the ZoomX foam internally. Meanwhile, the Fontanka Edge's ZoomX can be seen outside the midsole that looks like a brick on the heel area.
- Their displayed heel clips also differ. The Fontanka Edge's clips are more pronounced, which resembles the Huaraches', while the ZoomX Vista Grind has a sleek version.
- Several arrays of Nike Swooshes can be seen throughout the Fontaka Edge, while the ZoomX Vista Grind only has a noticeable Swoosh branding on the side and tongue.
