Bottom line

The Nike Blazer Mid Vintage is an updated version of the original hoops shoe from the 70s. Nike crafted it with premium suede and displaying a more streamlined upper, it is retooled specifically for the ladies.

The suede-crafted upper added a touch of luxe to the pair's sporty design exuding a dressier vibe, which sealed the deal for most reviewers. If you seek a mid-top sneaker that's comfortable, durable, and doesn't look too bulky, then the Blazer Mid Vintage might fit the bill.

Good to know

The Vintage iteration of the Blazer Mids offers ample ankle support. Due to the kick’s mid-top profile wearing it and taking it off might require more effort, but ultimately the shoe runs true to size.

With a more streamlined silhouette, the Nike Blazer Mid Vintage exudes a more feminine vibe than its predecessor. Moreover, the kick’s buttery suede upper elevates its classic sporty design into a more refined look. The ladies can pair it with shirtdresses, cropped jeans, and skirts for a fun and casual look. The guys can shoe off its mid-top silhouette by opting for cuffed jeans or cropped trousers.

This pair displays its predecessor's recognizable design and timelessness, but if you inspect closely, the Nike Blazer Mid Vintage features a slimmer profile and is crafted from suede and pigskin leather accents.

Introduced in 1972, the Nike Blazer was originally crafted from leather with a mesh nylon tongue and an oversized logo on the sides. Manufactured as a basketball kick, its name was derived from the local basketball team where the company resides – Portland Trail Blazers. But due to his incredible performance on the court, Nike commissioned George "The Iceman" Gervin from the San Antonio Spurs to wear it.

Shortly after the shoe's release, the brand's Air technology was developed, and the boom of technical basketball sneakers started, which consequently left the Blazer behind. Since then, skateboarders happily adopted the shoe for its affordability, durability, and adequate cushioning against impact. With little to no options of skate shoes then, skateboarders were using basketball sneakers to perform tricks.  Thanks to them, the Nike Blazers were saved from becoming extinct.

Today it is considered as a retro, casual shoe and is marketed under the Nike Skateboarding sub-brand. The Nike Blazer also received several collaborations from different personalities and brands such as Futura, Supreme, Comme des Garcons, Fragment, and most recently Virgil Abloh's Off-White.

Different Blazer iterations are also available, from canvas materials to low-top versions and printed uppers. One of these is the Nike Blazer Mid Vintage, a slimmer adaptation created for women.

  • Perforation holes are placed on both sides of the shoe for added breathability.
  • It has a foam insole for better in-step comfort.
