- The Nike Air Zoom Winflo 4 Shield is a road shoe that’s crafted for those who have neutral pronation. Its design is mostly similar to its immediate counterpart, the Winflo 4, but the thing that makes this one stand out is its water-repellent upper construction which staves off splashes and light water exposure. A handy pull-tab has been added to facilitate easy on-and-off.
- The cushioning system of this running shoe is made up of a full-length Cushlon foam that has a Zoom Air unit inside it. These two proprietary features work together to provide a comfortable underfoot experience. Durable rubber protects the platform while also providing underfoot cushioning.
The water-repellent version of the Nike Air Zoom Winflo 4 has a standard running shoe length. It follows the preferences of runners regarding size. The available width for the men’s version is D – Medium, while the women’s version is B – Medium. The semi-curved shape of the last accommodates the natural curve of the human foot.
Durable rubber is the material that is utilized for the outsole unit of the Nike Air Zoom Winflo 4 Shield. It covers the rest of the sole, protecting it from wear and tear. It has a waffle pattern which adds traction.
Flex grooves are strategically added to make the platform more adherent to the natural flexibility of the wearer’s foot.
Cushlon is a mix of Phylon and rubber compounds. It’s designed to be long-lasting. Its purpose is to deliver a comfortable and responsive underfoot experience.
A Zoom Air unit is placed inside the foam. It is made up of a small fiber-based air-bag that has pressurized air inside it. It adds more cushioning and springiness that the runner can utilize during the run. It also aims to attenuate impact shock during the landing phase of the gait cycle.
The upper unit of the Nike Air Zoom Winflo 4 Shield makes use of engineered mesh which resembles cloth. Its soft and smooth disposition allows the foot to be free of irritation or hot spots. It has ventilation pores for heightened breathability.
A water-repellent lining has been added to ward off mild water exposure, such as splashes and light rainfall.
Flywire cables are added to heighten the fit. These sturdy yet pliable wires are directly connected to the lacing system. When the shoelaces are adjusted, they go along with it, thus enabling a customizable coverage.
The tongue and collar are lightly padded; their purpose is to support the foot and prevent it from exiting the shoe accidentally.
A smooth in-shoe experience is ensured by a breathable inner sleeve. It further encourages the breathable nature of the façade.
The Nike logo and the ‘Nike Shield’ label feature a reflective coating. This add-on makes the shoe more visible, especially during nighttime running sessions.
