Nike Air Max Thea Premium History

The year 1978 marks one of Nike’s milestones. Breaking new ground, the global giant revealed their never-before-seen invention, the Air technology. Known to provide superior shock absorption and excellent cushioning underfoot, this groundbreaking find became the core of many of Nike's most sought-after creations.

Given the tech’s potential, famous designer Tinker Hatfield saw it fit to apply this newly found innovation to his work. He, however, had something else up his sleeve. Inspired by the unique inside-out structure of the must-see Paris attraction known as the Centre Georges Pompidou, Hatfield dreamt of making the tech visible for everyone.

This ingenious idea materialized in the year 1987. Dubbed as the Air Max 1, this runner, which featured an unconcealed Air-infused sole, was the first of its kind. Aside from its forward-thinking design, the AM 1 was soon perceived as a fashion staple for its style that appealed to runners and sneaker lovers alike.

The Air Max 1’s creation altered the way the brand designed and developed their kicks. A series of sneakers that boast innovation and style later on followed. Soon enough, the Air Max family got bigger and it continues to expand till now.

Rapid to respond to the needs of their consumers, Nike heard the sneaker queens’ demand for a women’s Air Max rendition. The brand’s answer to their plea was the Nike Air Max Thea. Designed in accordance with women’s hard-to-please needs, the shoe flaunts an ultralight construction, plush cushioning and most importantly a sleek, slimmed-down silhouette.

Making a preview in June 2013, it was first seen dressed in vibrant “flash lime” with volt accents. Instantly drawing oohs and ahhs from the female market, the model has been seen donned in an array of materials and colors. A couple of variations also arose, this includes a mid-cut edition, a Flyknit model, and the Nike Tavas, a version made especially for men.

The Nike Air Max Thea Premium is also another iteration of this model. Crafted with top-grade materials, this product promises enhanced quality and comfort for an uptick in the price.

Fit & Sizing

Runner-inspired, count on the Nike Air Max Thea Premium to keep your feet comfy and well-supported all day. Its slimmed-down design, though, offers the least toe space. Thus, consider getting a pair bigger than your usual choice if you have wide feet to achieve optimal comfort. This women’s shoe is available in sizes 5-11, Medium B width.

Notable Features

Recognized for its minimalist design, the Air Max Thea Premium’s attractive upper is accented by perforations at the back which improve the shoe’s breathability. The “Swoosh” logo on its lateral and medial side completes its look.

Similar to its predecessors, this model kept the famous Air technology. Embedded on the rear of the Phylon midsole, expect this shoe to provide lightweight cushioning while offering reliable impact protection.
