5 reasons to buy

  • Cushioned: Air Max Plus owners consider the underfoot comfort of this second version similar to the first and third iterations of the Air Max Plus
  • Secured: Wearers feel stable walking on the Nike Air Max Plus 2 as the TPU webbing on the upper offers support.
  • Summery: The gradient colors on this shoe bring a feeling of warmth, which makes it suitable for sunny months.
  • Stylish: Its undulating lines and pop of shades on this shoe put a jazzy vibe to any boring outfit.
  • Adjustable: It comes with extra lace holes near the collar for a more customized fit.

2 reasons not to buy

  • Roomy: Air Max followers find the toe area extra spacious.
  • Weighty: Diehards of Air Max Plus’s feel that this shoe is quite heavy at the back but not as bulky as the Air Max Plus 3.

Bottom line

It may be considered underrated among the Air Max Plus squad, but this second iteration echoes the ‘90s fashion in its athletic-inspired retro makeup. Despite having a robust frame, this Tuned Air-injected kick doesn’t fail in offering comfort straight-from-the-box. And if durability is a must in your checklist, the Air Max Plus 2 might meet your requirements.

Nike Air Max Plus 2: Tweaked and tuned retro kick

While the legendary Air Max Plus (aka Nike TN) took the headlines in 1998, the sequel with the same tuned air sole didn’t earn the same star quality. Perhaps, time wasn’t on the side of the AMP2 on its debut run in 2000 as another Swoosh series was stealing the spotlight, the Nike Shox.

These kicks feature a suspension fork-like cushioning on the heel, a digression from the Air Maxes, and Tuned Air saga. Decades later, we get a fresh glimpse of the underrated AM Plus 2, tweaked in a sleeker form.

What’s new?

  • The modified Air Max Plus 2 has a smaller air bubble on the heel and toe, making it more pliable and maneuverable than the original TN 2 version.
  • A combination of nubuck and mesh gives the comeback edition a sleeker appearance than the OG pair.
  • Crisp detailing of toe-to-heel reflective 3M panels makes it pop in the dark.
  • Gradient wavy lines still give it a distinct look among its more famous siblings: the ribbed patterned Nike TN and Air Max Plus 3. The retro version comes in more electrifying color options.
