The Nike Air Max 97 x Undefeated showcases a distinct aesthetic which is called “Gucci-esque” by some reviewers due to red and green linings around the sneaker. Pairing it with skinny dark jeans and a white shirt further define its premium details. If going outside in a chilly weather, wearing a denim jacket and a red cap makes for a fresh look.
As with the case of other AM97 models, the Nike Air Max 97 x Undefeated also exhibits the innovative Air-sole unit which provides durable cushioning and support. The rubber outsole provides traction and grip for various surfaces.
The Nike Air Max 97 is one of the many versions of the ever-popular Air Max shoe line. Designed by Christian Tresser, it represented another innovation in Air technology. Its Air-sole unit spans the length of the entire shoe. Along with the Air-sole unit comes the inclusion of a layer of polyurethane foam, which offers runners the sport-specific crash padding to deliver more durable cushioning. This Air-sole is also the first to be engineered specifically for running.
The Air Max 97 OG Silver Bullet is recognized as one of the iconic sneakers in shoe history. Inspired by the Japanese bullet train or Shinkansen, the Silver Bullet emanates a futuristic appearance while possessing modern support features. Its line is soft and fluid, and the color looks pristine, with a red Swoosh along the bottom side. Additionally, it is the first Air Max that displays a see-through outer layer of the Air-sole.
Nike attempted to fuse the Air Max 97 with the Air Force 1. After some trials, it was able to produce some hybrid shoes in 1998, but those didn’t generate a buzz. Another was conceptualized in 2007; an AF1 with the midsole translucency of the Air Max 97 but the public release is still tentative up to this point.
The first collaboration for the AM97 is with True, a San Francisco-based apparel store. Over the years, collaborations with various figures such as Shady Records, Sony PlayStation, and even Japan’s Kashima Antlers soccer team came about. These collaborations are coveted by collectors.
In 2017, the sneaker store and street clothing brand Undefeated celebrated its 15th year anniversary by collaborating with sneaker giant Nike. Inspired by the OG Silver Bullet model, the Undefeated x Nike Air Max 97 is highly anticipated by fans ever since its announcement. Thanks to its heritage, style, and quality, its availability is already in doubt moments after its release.
