Nike Air Huarache Drift History

The Nike Air Huarache silhouette was unveiled in the early 90s and was designed by Tinker Hatfield, a veteran shoe designer. The Swoosh was hesitant to introduce this model to the market as it showcased a profile that is way ahead of its time. Nevertheless, hundreds of runners demanded the release of this pair after its test run in the early 90s.

The Huarache carried the familiar profile of South American sandals with the fit of water-ski shoe that turned into running footwear. This shoe is made of spandex and neoprene sock-like upper that embraces the foot securely. Also, the Nike Air sole unit and the heel strap made of Thermoplastic polyurethane provides a cozy fit. Many reviewers dubbed this model as footwear with unblemished performance.

The Huarache carried the theme "Stripped to Bare Essential" to let the technology of the shoe stand out. The Nike Swoosh branding was even stripped off to stay as authentic as possible to the mantra of this model. Its brand combined the neoprene and spandex sock on the upper to produce a "Huarache fit." This shoe was soon tagged as the purest performance sneaker ever designed. This model has effortlessly earned its status as an icon in the basketball courts and into the streets.

Through the years, the brand was able to release several iterations molded from the Huarache, and each has the inner sock iconic feature. One is the Nike Air Huarache Drift that displays the authentic Huarache elements, such as the bootie construction, and the heel strap with a re-engineered lacing system and a midfoot strap.

The Nike Huarache Drift is a streetwear edition of the '90s running sensation, the Nike Air Huarache. It was released in late 2017, early 2018 and pulls inspiration from an array of Huarache shoes, namely the Huarache Run, the Racer, and the International. It has the allure of the classic Huarache silhouette mixed with a new look. Since its release, it has come out in a variety of colorways and add-ons. Nike has also added in the choice of getting these low tops customized, a development that goes to show just how much Nike understand what the sneaker world is all about and what exactly sneakerheads want to see out on the market.

Nike Air Huarache Drift Style

The low-top Nike Air Huarache Drift displays the iconic sports lifestyle sneaker that has been modernized to fit the current market. It features the classic elements such as the heel strap, toe box, and the slip-on foot-hugging fit that delivers all-day comfort while looking strikingly stylish. The brand revamped its unique lacing system for a revolutionized look and updated securing system.

The Huarache Drift displays real neck-breaking elements that suit wearers who prefer donning daring sneakers. Some opt to style this with a simple ensemble such as denim jeans with plain tees as not to draw attention away from the sneakers. Wondering how to lace the Nike Air Huarache Drift? Few wearers shared an idea that this kick can be sported with laces weaved through the Flywire cables or this could also be donned without lace for a look that will suit the wearer's style.

The shoes go excellent with jogger pants, the most standard outfit to pair the Nike Huarache Drift with. The unique pair of shoes add sophistication and elevates one’s style when it is paired with skinny jeans and denim shorts. For women, jogging pants go well with the Nike Air Huarache Drift and gives off a sporty yet casual look.

Great for that everyday outfit, those who are more daring can try these on for semi-formal or semi-casual events.

Fit & Sizing

The Nike Air Huarache Drift men’s shoe is exclusively offered in men's sizing from 6 to 15 US in medium width. Women can also experience this model's style and comfort by buying a pair 1.5 sizes down their regular size. Example, if their shoe size in women's sizing is 7, she must buy 5.5 in men's sizing for a cozy and snug fit.

This pair has the traditional lacing system reinforced with the Flywire cables for a secure lockdown. Meanwhile, the textile bootie is bolstered up with a film overlay, heel and tongue strap, and a midfoot cage to deliver a supported and secured fit while showcasing a classic, authentic Huarache look. Also, to furnish comfy strides, this kick has the Phylon foam midsole encapsulated with the Nike Air cushioning.

Notable Features

These men’s Nike Air Huarache Drift can run as casual shoes with one notable feature being the classic silhouette showcased in the Air Huarache Drift providing a striking feature for the shoe. This kick's over 27-year old profile has been loved on the hard courts and on the city streets for its simple yet technically updated elements. The Drift iteration retained most of the DNA of its predecessor and updated with the looped lace holders for enhanced secured hold. The brand also updated the midfoot strap and made it detachable to adjust to one's preferred comfort.

As a mainstay in the Huarache line, the low tops' sock-like construction offers flexibility and a good fit with a comfortable slip-on feel. This feature has remained a key part of many variations of Huarache design, making it an integral part of the Nike Huarache Drift's identity.
