Nike Air Force 1 Upstep LX History
In 1964, a small company named Blue Ribbon Sports (BRS) was born. It was established by Phil Knight and his former coach Bill Bowerman. The business operated by distributing Onitsuka Tiger shoes, most of which were sold at local track meets from the trunk of Knight’s car. Despite being a small operation, the company soon grew, opening its own retail store and employing more people.
By 1971, BRS prepared to end its partnership with Onitsuka Tiger and subsequently planned for its change of branding. This was the time when the iconic Swoosh logo was created, and the company was renamed as Nike. The famous "Just Do It" tagline would follow a decade later after several ups and downs in the 1980s.
Over the years, Nike has transformed into a footwear giant, releasing many legendary kicks that have changed the sports and casual scenes. One of the most enduring kicks from the brand is the Nike Air Force. This basketball shoe was released in 1982 and was named after the U.S. presidential plane Air Force One. It was the first shoe in the basketball category to feature the innovative Nike Air technology.
At the time, it revolutionized the hoops game and was favored by such star athletes as Charles Barkley and Moses Malone. It also transcended the sports world to influence hip-hop culture. The heritage model has led to many versions since, such as the Nike Air Force 1 Upstep LX.
This women’s shoe is the luxe edition of the Nike Air Force 1 Upstep. It upgrades the original Air Force 1 with a thicker platform sole. It also features the model’s trademark cushioning and soft, luxurious feel, ideal for elevating one’s street style game.
