Nike Air Force 1 07 QS History
Nike dropped the Air Force 1 model in the market in 1982 to pay homage to the United States’ presidential plane. They launched the AF1 model featuring the Air technology that works as support in the heel for an enhanced cushioning.
Bruce Kilgore, the designer of AF1, drew inspiration from the hiking boots. He reimagined it to make it more apt for the hard court. He used a slanted shaft for flexibility and provided pivot points on the outsole with ripple pattern for sudden changes in direction while playing.
However, the Swoosh discontinued the production in 1984, but due to high demand, they decided to resume the production after two years of hiatus. The return was such a hit and undoubtedly ruled the market during that time. To date, Nike has over 2,000 variations of the AF1 since it was released more than 30 years ago.
The Air Force One’s legacy continues to grow with every pair released to the public. It was considered as the most popular shoe of all time and consistently included in the best sellers lists. In 2017, Nike released the Air Force 1 07 QS in three colorways. This model features a design that was decorated with “Nike Air” all over the leather upper.
