New Balance Fresh Foam Zante Sweatshirt History

The Zante is one of the offshoots of New Balance’s genius technology for the midsole called Fresh Foam that debuted in 2015. The Boston brand went deeper into the layers of the sole and found ways to modify the elements of the EVA compound to produce a foam bed that is resilient yet firm.

To further amplify the strength of the sole, its mold was created in varying degrees of crush resistance and compressive force using modern computer-aided design programs. The entire technology equates to a functionally enhanced trainer with a very responsive sole.

The Zante, an offspring of its earlier models, particularly the lightweight 1400 and the high-intensity workout Minimus, is among the variations that clearly benefited from the Fresh Foam technology as it turned out to be one of the most sought running shoes for high-mileage training. The innovative features of this featherweight version were passed on to its classy counterpart, the New Balance Fresh Foam Zante Sweatshirt dropped in 2015.

Additional Info

  • The Fresh Foam Zante Sweatshirt is accented with reflective, welded-on overlays on the forefoot and toe areas.
  • The midsole is made of Fresh Foam, a formulated EVA compound with a geometrically-designed structure, which makes it a lot springy but firm and responsive.
  • The lightweight blown rubber covers the entire outsole to provide a fluid transition from heel to toe.
  • The shoe’s footbed has a safe boost for cushioning and arch support.
  • Forefoot outsole provides a bouncy and smooth toe-off motion.
  • The forefoot lugs have varying sizes and in opposite orientation. This is in response to the amount of force and traction in that area. Areas with more pressure have bigger lugs.
  • The Fresh Foam Zante Sweatshirt weighed a little over the Fresh Foam Zante running shoe relatively due to the additional upgrades like the use of gum outsole and leather branding on the heel and tongue.
