  • The New Balance 624 is designed to be a comfortable and durable cross-training shoe. This release features a highly cushioned sole unit which comprises of three parts. They include an ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) footbed, an injection molded EVA (IMEVA) midsole, and an ABZORB heel. All these technologies aim to reduce the shock from impact during workouts while also providing a comfortable and stable platform.
  • The underside of this footwear is lined with a non-marking rubber. This compound is durable and delivers adequate traction for training.
  • The upper of this model is made of leather. This material provides a supportive structure to keep the foot steady during workouts. It also uses the Phantom Liner to increase comfortability.

The New Balance 624 comes in men’s and women’s versions and runs true to size. Like most training shoes from New Balance, it is available in various width options. The men’s model is obtainable in B - Narrow, D - Medium, 2E - Wide, 4E - Extra-Wide, and 6E - Extra-Wide for men. The women’s variation is offered in 2A - Narrow, B - Medium, D - Wide, 2E - Extra-Wide, and 3E - Extra-Wide.

The New Balance 624 employs a full-length rubber outsole. This compound is designed to be durable, flexible and grippy. This non-marking rubber also has Flex Grooves in the forefoot area to promote foot flexion. The tread pattern on this model is designed to enhance traction on most surfaces.

This trainer uses the IMEVA foam for its midsole. It is lightweight and durable and can absorb shock to prevent injuries or discomfort to the lower extremities.

The EVA footbed adds another layer of cushion to the trainer. It enhances the sole unit’s shock attenuation and provides a comfortable base for the foot.

In between the footbed and the midsole is an internal shank which acts as a support structure in the platform. It forces the foot to bend at the forefoot and not in the arch area to prevent discomfort or pain.

ABZORB, a foam-based polymer, is found in the heel area between the midsole and outsole. This material disperses the force from the impact to reduce shock and prevent pain from occurring in the foot, ankle, knee or even back.

The New Balance 624 utilizes a leather upper. This material is water-resistant and more rigid compared to mesh. It is not breathable, but there are perforations for heat dissipation.

Round laces secure the top portion of the shoe and allow users to adjust the fit to their preference. They pass through a slot on the padded tongue to keep it from moving out of place during workouts. The plush collar supports the ankle and keeps the heel locked down, so it does not slip out while training.

The inside employs the Phantom Liner, a smooth and lightweight fabric that keeps the foot comfortable. It hides the seams to prevent it from rubbing against the foot and causing blisters or irritation.
