The 617 performance skate shoe belongs in the New Balance Numeric (NB#) range has a narrow fit. This shoe boasts a low profile that permits wearers to have flexible movement while keeping the foot supportive and comfortable. The traditional lace-up closure with a central loop tab secures the fit, while paddings are kept minimal for a lighter ride.

The NB AM617 is a performance skate shoe from the Numeric line of New Balance. As a skate shoe, it boasts a low profile in suede and mesh combo for a premium and athletic look. New Balance's signature N branding adorns the sidewalls, while other brandings on the tongue and heel seal off the look. Numerous colorways are in place, so buyers have options to find a color that suits their style best whether they are looking for a pair of black sneakers, gray sneakers, orange sneakers, blue sneakers, or green sneakers.

The AM617 took inspiration from the iconic ‘80s running shoe New Balance 620. It manages to shadow the classic silhouette while incorporating modern design elements appropriate for performance skateboarding. The upper utilizes breathable mesh underlays with sufficient suede reinforcements on the mudguard, side walls, and heel areas. For it to better perform and handle every wear and tear of the extreme sport, the toe cap is designed multi-layered for optimum durability.

First made available in November 2017 is one of New Balance’s current performance skate shoes in the market, the New Balance 617 or otherwise known as NB AM617 or New Balance AM617. This fresh skate shoe model prides itself with modernized features and technologies for maximum comfort and performance while carrying with it the brand's long-lived classic heritage.

The NB AM617’s design and construction took their cues from the NB 620, a bona fide New Balance lightweight running shoe that released in 1980. The upper, from a material choice of suede and mesh to construction, for one, visibly reflects its resemblance to the 620. Other features of this shoe include vulcanized gum rubber outsole, lace-up closure with tongue loop, minimal padding to lessen weight, and closed-cell PU inserts for shock absorption.

The 617 released as part of New Balance’s skate line, the NB Numeric or simply NB#. Multiple colorways are available for this model including orange with tan, forest green, gray with white, black, and navy with red & white among others.
