New Balance 574 Shattered Pearl History

Despite being an underdog compared to brands like Nike and Adidas, New Balance was one of the first companies entering the footwear industry. Although it started as a company that specializes in arch support and prescription footwear, it delved into the sports industry with the same commitment to prioritizing function and style.

Following the mantra “Endorsed by No One,” New Balance stands out from its competitors by not conforming to the footwear industry conventions. Existing for over a century and maintaining its prominent status, New Balance proves that it can withstand the hardest test of all, which is time. From starting as a small company that only offers specialized products, the brand now expanded into offering lifestyle and athletic footwear.

One of the brand’s most iconic shoe silhouettes is the 574, released in 1988. The sneaker carried the brand’s signature ENCAP cushioning system to enhanced comfort and protection, making it an advanced running shoe of its time. Offered at a lower price point, the 574s captured the masses. Re-released in 2003, the 574 now comes in various colorways, and premium versions are available as well because of the Made in USA customization option and series of collaborations.

New Balance 574 Shattered Pearl Style

Although the 1988 initial release come in a more low-priced range, the comeback of the 574s in Shattered Pearl is designed with a more luxe and modern appeal. This new breed of sneakers incorporates a shattered pearl metallic accent on the heel and “N” logo.

The 574 Shattered Pearl offers three colorway options-- Angora with Faded Rose, Magnet with Black and Black with Magnet, all presenting an upgrade on anyone’s casual look. With this neutral colorway selection, these sneakers can be quickly be dressed up or down and can be worn on almost any occasion.

Fit & Sizing

The New Balance 574 Shattered Pearl come in women’s sizes ranging from 5-12. Standard and wide and half size options are available for higher chances of availing an ideal fit. Although most of the users claim that these fit true to size, a high number of reviewers also note that these run narrow, despite the wide sizes. Going half a size up is recommended. These sneakers come in a traditional lace-up closure with padded tongue and collar for a more snug and secure fit.

Notable Features

The feminine appeal of the New Balance 574 Shattered Pearl is backed up with features that makes it ultra-comfortable. It features the brand’s signature Abzorb cushioning, a foam-based polymer, that scatters the force and lessens the impact placed on the body.
