New Balance 574 Collegiate Pack History
The New Balance 574 is one of the classic silhouettes of the New Balance brand. It was originally released in 1988 as a running shoe and it is now considered as one of the brand’s most iconic shoes.
During the 1980s, a lot of professional marathon runners used the New Balance 574 in both training and racing. The prominent Dick Beardsley was marked to be the most famous runner who wore the New Balance 574 in a race. He won second place in the Boston Marathon wearing the shoe. Alberto Salazar beat him to first place by only one second. The shoe also was able to gain great popularity during Beardsley’s career in professional marathon.
The model was then reissued in 2003 and throughout time, the shoe slowly shifted from fitness use to a more casual use. A few iterations were also made on the shoe and the brand even released the shoe for women and children.
One of the iterations of the New Balance 574 silhouette is the “Polka Dot Pack”. In this release, the shoe features the polka dot design on its upper along with its Fresh Foam midsole. Another iteration of this model is the New Balance 574 “Collegiate Pack”, which gives off the back-to-school vibe. The pack features four colorways of Crimson/Red, Linseed/ Dust, Gunmetal/Raven, and Blau which comes with an extra pair of laces. The shoe features a combination of suede and mesh upper with a tan leather for the branding on the heel along with its ENCAP midsole and EVA cushioning.
The brand also has issued some other various colorways for the silhouette providing the people a variety of choices in picking a color that would suit best their taste.

With the Collegiate Pack, this version of the New Balance 574 is a great choice for students’ daily use, especially those in college. The shoe goes well with a pair of skinny jeans, joggers, jogger jeans, and even leggings for women.
Fit and Sizing
The New Balance 574 Collegiate Pack fits basically the same as the other New Balance 574’s that were previously released.
