Mid-top sneakers extend toward the ankle for a little more support and hold. These lie somewhere in the middle between low-top and high-top sneakers in terms of usage and popularity.
Sneakers with collars that go above the ankles for optimal hold and support are some of the most sought-after models in lifestyle shoes. Most of these shoes take their roots from basketball and have easily or fashionably crossed to mainstream wear.

New Balance 247 Classic History
The New Balance 247 Collection is a brand new silhouette from the brand. It has only been a few months since it was first released but it already has gotten quite some recognition in the sneaker world. Throughout its very young yet rather successful lifetime, the brand has already made some few changes on the popular silhouette, giving the people more stylish options to choose from.
Although the New Balance 247 is a new stylish silhouette, it was designed with its origin drawn from three of the brand’s most iconic retro models: M1300JP for the forefoot throat pattern, original 1993 NB998 for the grey nubuck, and the NB576 for the mesh toe box inspiration. The shoe had a limited edition release to only 247 pairs.
By December 2016, the New Balance 247 “Friends & Family” Pack came out. The pack was also in a limited edition release of 247 pairs. This premium version of the shoe was released in a grey and dark teal colorway. But the pack is now hard to find since it quickly got sold out.
The New Balance 247 Luxe Pack came out next with a trio of brand new colorways. The shoe features a premium leather and neoprene upper. The new set of colorways of the Luxe Pack comes in a tonal tan, white, and black.
Following the 247 Luxe is the New Balance 247 Sport which was released in four colorways of orange, olive, black, and black & white. The shoe showcases an engineered mesh upper, a neoprene sock construction, and a reflective collar strap, rubber tongue, and the trademark “N” logo of the shoe. The shoe also has drawn some additional inspirations for its design from the 1300 for the toe vamp, the 574 and 576 for the collar strap and the 998 for the midsole.
The New Balance 247 Classic is the New Balance 247’s new face. The shoe is offered in a classic colorway of black, white, and gray and it was released for both men and women. The Classic is the third variation of the 247 Collection following the 247 Luxe and the 247 Sport. For the release of the 247 Classic, New Balance went back to its roots for the model’s colorway set inspired by the traditional shades that the brand is known for.
