The New Balance 009 Speckle Suede is offered in US men’s sizes. This low-top’s upper is made of suede and mesh which contributes to its flexibility and comfort. The traditional lacing enclosure delivers a secure fit.

Offered in multiple colorways, the low-top New Balance 009 Speckle Suede displays a laidback retro-style suited for many casual ensembles. Its speckles pattern endows the shoe with an elegant jagged vibe, which works for wearers who are going for a rugged approach to their fashion style. As an excellent option for summer strolls, this low-top matches well with shorts or skinny jeans.

Its distinction from its archetype model is the understated speckles pattern around the shoe that offers a hint of texture to its aesthetic. Similar to the original, the NB 009 Speckle Suede has a dual density midsole which offers cushy natural movement and comfort for long hours of wear while the crisp gum outsole is there for traction.

New Balance has a unique approach when it comes to selling shoes. While its competitors are constantly in battle with each other when it comes to getting a famous athlete or celebrity to endorse their brand, New Balance deviates from the competition entirely.  From its perspective, instead of paying endorsers to promote their product, the company instead invests the resources for research, design, and manufacturing. By having this approach, New Balance is confident that its products can speak for itself.

A British immigrant in Massachusetts named William J. Riley founded the company in 1906. It was initially called New Balance Arch Support Company.  Mainly operated in the Boston area, it started selling arch supports and other gears designed to enhance shoe fit.  The company’s first product was a flexible arch support which has three support points to deliver excellent balance and comfort.

Some said that the name New Balance came from Riley’s chicken foot found on his office desk. He claimed his arch support design has the same concept with the chicken foot construction that features optimal balance. Riley called his 3-prong design the “New Balance.”

In 1960, the company manufactured the “Trackster,” the first running sneaker made that has a ripple sole. The Trackster experienced a broad exposure when the YMCA made it their unofficial shoe. Several college track teams across the United States adopted the shoe for their cross-country teams.

Today, the company is lauded for its quality and affordable lifestyle sneakers. Released in 2016, the New Balance 009 features a suede and mesh upper and a neoprene collar. A version of the 009, the NB 009 Speckle Suede offers the same silhouette and design from its original model but with a nuance of speckles pattern across the shoe.

  • A specialized pressure mapping technology which captures pressure data in each phase of the foot motion is utilized for the production of the NB 009’s dual-density midsole.
  • So far, three color schemes are released for this shoe, namely nimbus cloud, blue rain, and clay red.
