Updates to Mizuno Wave Legend 4

  • The breathable upper construction of the Mizuno Wave Legend 4 maintains a cool and dry interior environment for the foot of its wearer. Visible spaces in the mesh act as portals for air to infiltrate the inner chamber. Stitched-on overlays provide structure to the upper while also improving its overall aesthetics. But they tighten and loosen in accordance with the adjustments made to the lacing system, thus making the fit more customizable.
  • The mid-sole unit uses a full-length foam material that’s meant to deliver high-level cushioning to the foot of the wearer. Shock is absorbed by the Wave Plate, which runs from the heel to the mid-foot area of the platform. Made from Pebax Rnew™, a sustainable compound, this unit delivers durable impact protection during the landing phase of the gait cycle.
  • The sole unit of the Legend 4 has a ventilation system that runs along its entire length. Air enters these ports in order to heighten the breathability of the shoe. An anatomically molded insole has been added right above the mid-sole unit. It has a raised arch, which is meant to include the mid-foot in its cushioning capability.
  • X10 is a durable rubber compound that’s meant to keep the mid-sole safe from the potentially harmful effects of surface exposure, friction and continued use. It also gives traction, which is important in every running session. Flex grooves in the forefoot permit the platform to bend along with the toes during the toe-off phase, thus causing a more efficient lift from the ground.

Mizuno Wave Legend 4 size and fit

The Mizuno Wave Legend 4 has a standard running shoe length. Its sizing schemes allow runners to correctly choose the size that they’re most comfortable with. The available width for men and women is medium. It accommodates those with medium sized feet. The natural shape of the human foot is the basis for the semi-curved shape of this shoe.

Outsole

X10 is a material that’s made from carbon rubber. It is resistant to wear and tear. It effectively protects the mid-sole of the Mizuno Wave Legend 4 from abrasion and wear. It’s a helpful layer that extends the lifespan and preserves the structural integrity of the shoe’s platform.

Flex grooves in the front make the platform more agreeable to the natural biomechanics of the foot, especially during the toe-off phase of the gait cycle. The sole unit bends in accordance with the foot, thus make the liftoff more enabled.

Midsole

The Mizuno Wave Legend 4 features the EL8 mid-sole, a compound that is able to deliver great cushioning for the runner. Its responsive nature makes it springier and more flexible, which helps the foot in performing more comfortably and confidently with each step.
The Wave Plate that’s made from Pebax Rnew™ heightens cushioning and attenuates shock during the landing phase of the gait cycle.

The SR Touch is a cushioning material in the heel that absorbs impact shock. It has bounce-back properties, which gear the foot to transition smoothly towards the next step.

The SmoothRide design allows the platform of the Legend 4 to mimic a rocking-chair shape to help the runner achieve a smoother and easier transition through the gait cycle.

The Removable Insock adds a bit more cushioning to the underfoot. It’s anatomically molded to let it cushion the curve of the arch, as well.

Upper

AIRmesh is a material that has an open construction. Visible spaces in the fabric allow air to enter the Mizuno Wave Legend 4’s foot-chamber to keep the runner cool and dry at all times. It’s durable, so it won’t tear apart easily.

The Dynamotion Fit system uses stretchable materials to allow the upper to work with the foot as it goes through the motion of stepping on the ground and lifting off.

Stitched-on overlays assist the upper fabrics of the Legend 4 in providing a snug and secure fit. They are connected to the lacing system, so whenever the shoelaces are adjusted, they also follow suit, essentially giving a custom fit.
