- The updated U4ic technology in the third iteration of the Mizuno Wave is lighter in weight and even cushier than its previous versions. The purpose of this material is to dissipate impact shock and to remain resilient against impact forces.
- The ESS Rock Plate protects the foot from stones and small rocks, which users experience on trails. It is also durable, so it keeps the shoe performing well for a longer time period.
- The XtraRide feature is a set of grooves incorporated in the mid-foot area of the platform. It enables the shoe to adapt itself to the changing foot movements of the users, and it makes possible a smoother heel-to-toe transition and a more efficient ride by allowing the heel and the forefoot to perform independently.
The Mizuno Wave Hayate 3 is an aggressive trail running shoe for neutral runners with not-so-wide feet. It comes in the regular running length for both men and women and has the standard width of D for men and B for women, respectively. The shoe fits differently on every individual. Therefore, it is advisable to try it first.
The Mizuno Wave Hayate 3 features the Michelin outsole for maximum comfort and durability. The rubber is also very ‘grippy’ and it enables the shoe to perform well on various types of trail surfaces.
The ESS Rock Plate on the outsole provides protection against large stones and aberrations in the forefoot region and heightens the durability of the shoe. This rock plate is also present in the Wave Hayate 4 running shoe.
The midsole uses an elastic, thermal plastic material from the midfoot to heel region. This Wave unit provides the much desired ‘springiness’ in the midsole and maintains an environment of high quality cushioning in the shoe.
The U4ic is a lightweight and responsive layer in the midsole. It distributes the effect of impact forces over the whole surface area, thereby reducing the risk of discomfort from shocks and creating a very effective buffer system for the user. The material is durable, soft and resilient against the harsh forces. This midsole material is present in other well-known Mizuno running shoes like the Wave Inspire 15 and Wave Rider 22.
The Mizuno Wave Hayate 3 uses the ‘Smooth Ride’ technology, which is basically a strategic placement of grooves in the platform. The design is different for both men and women. These grooves help in smoothening the heel-to-toe transition.
The Concave Wave eases the transition from heel-strike to toe-off to by leading the foot’s movements, dispersing the impact forces and giving a high-energy return.
The XtaRide technology allows the shoe to adapt to the runner’s changing foot movements for a smoother and more flexible ride. It consists of grooves that separate the forefoot and heel sections of the platform from one another, thus allowing them to move independently.
The shoe uses the Air mesh material on its upper for maximum breathability and higher flexibility. The breathable environment makes it possible for the user’s foot to remain dry and cool throughout the running session.
The Mizuno Wave Hayate 3 uses stitched overlays on the middle part and the lateral sides of the shoe to secure the foot in position and prevent in-shoe wobbling.
The Dynamotion Fit provides an optimal fit for the user. The special stretch material in the forefoot area provides the needed flexibility while moving.
The collar construction secures the foot in position and also prevents buckling of the heel under load. The padded tongue feels very soft against the skin and further helps in keeping the user’s foot in place.
The lace-up closure provides the feel of customized fit and prevents sliding of the foot inside the shoe especially when running uphill or downhill.
