The Mizuno Wave Bolt 7 is made with stability and motion in mind. It uses several technologies in the sole unit and the upper that aim to steady the foot. The outsole is grippy for quick foot transitions without accidentally slipping. The midsole not only cushions impact but also has features that support the foot during side-to-side movements.
This pair of Mizuno volleyball shoes is created to be lightweight and flexible to facilitate quick movements. It also has features that promote breathability, so the foot remains fresh, even during long games.
Another Mizuno trainer to consider is the Wave Lightning Z4. It looks strikingly similar to the Wave Bolt 7 and uses much of the same technologies too. However, the Wave Lightning Z4 has more cushioning elements in the midsole which includes the PoWnCe layer with a high rebound property and the Anatomical Cup-In-Sole that prevents slippage.
Traction. A rubber compound wraps the underside of the Mizuno Wave Bolt 7. This non-marking material provides a reliable grip on smooth surfaces. The tread pattern on this model promotes multi-directional traction. As volleyball players need to be able to change directions quickly, there is a pivot point under the forefoot section facilitates smooth movements without hurting the knee joints. The outsole also wraps the front of the shoe, creating a guard that not only amplifies grip on the front but also protects the toes.
Flexibility. The segmented layout of the outsole promotes pliability. It allows for a smooth heel-to-toe transition. It also features the DynaMotion Groove. This furrow amplifies flexibility without compromising stability. It aims to improve the agility of the player.
Stability. The SENSORPOINT is another element that increases stability. This suspension system facilitates direct contact between the Wave plate and the ground surface, for enhanced surefootedness.
Cushioning. A full-length foam technology renders underfoot comfort to the wearers of the Wave Bolt 7. This layer absorbs shock to prevent discomfort and injury to the lower extremities.
Breathability. The midsole also features the INTERCOOL ventilation system. Ports are present on the midsole which connect to the outsole, preventing heat and humidity from building up inside the foot chamber; thus the foot remains cool and fresh while playing.
Stability. This pair of volleyball shoes from Mizuno uses the Parallel Wave Plate technology. This element is an iteration of the brand’s Wave system that provides both cushioning and stability. The Parallel Wave Plate evenly distributes shock throughout the sole for enhanced impact absorption and stability.
Breathability. The AIRmesh fabric is utilized as the upper of the Mizuno Wave Bolt 7. This material is soft and features an open-cell construction which permits air to cool the interior of the footgear. The tongue is also covered in mesh to help with ventilation.
Protection and support. Synthetic overlays wrap vital areas of the top to prevent premature tearing of the underlying fabric. They also retain the form of the upper to deliver reliable foothold. At the toe box is the thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) element called the Dura Shield. This component protects the toes against bumps and when it gets dragged while serving.
Lockdown. A traditional lacing system securely locks the foot inside the Wave Bolt 7. It can be used to adjust the midfoot fit. The plush tongue and collar ensure that the heel won’t accidentally slip out during gameplay. Outside, the synthetic overlay forms a cup that helps steady the hindfoot.
