Good to know

-As Merrell's way to celebrate Earth Day, this iconic Moab shoe is created while taking into consideration its eco-friendliness. The recycled compression-molded EVA midsoles provide comfort and stability, while the Vibram EcoDura recycled sole delivers strong grip and traction on varying terrain.

-This shoe also features a tough full-grain leather upper that is highly resistant to abrasion and scuffing. The mesh fabric lining the interior offers additional protection for the foot while making room for breathability.

The Merrell Moab 2 Earth Day is a low-cut hiker. The leather upper conforms to the wearer's foot for a comfortable fit. Meanwhile, the web lacing system makes it easy to adjust the tightness whenever needed.

Like all Moab 2 shoes, this model features a grippy Vibram outsole with 5mm lugs. But what makes it unique is that this outsole is made partly with recycled rubber (30% post-industrial scrap rubber). Vibram claims that this rubber compound is their best eco-friendly sole yet.

The tread design of this outsole involves plenty of siping and oval-shaped lugs for grip and traction on varying terrain. There are no lugs under the arch to allow the foot to flex naturally for more comfort. Lastly, the aggressive lugs ensure a smooth journey on mud and dirt.

Another unique feature of this shoe is its eco-friendly midsole that is made with recycled EVA. It offers comfort and support and keeps the foot stable. This shoe also comes with a Kinetic Base footbed that provides an enhanced heel and arch structure, and as expected - more comfort. It's treated with the M-Select Fresh technology that deals with odor-causing microbes.

The Earth Day hiker features a leather upper with mesh. These materials make a perfect pair because the leather ensures durability and longevity while the mesh lining ensures that the shoe stays breathable on hotter days. Furthermore, the Merrell Air Cushion in the heel provides support and reduces fatigue while the wearer tackles challenging terrain.

Completing the upper is a lace-up closure for a secure fit. The webbing loops make it easy to adjust the shoe tightness while the bellows tongue prevents water and dirt from entering the shoe. Lastly, the molded nylon arch shank provides a supportive structure between the outsole and the insole, helping reduce the load incurred on the feet and calves. All these allow the wearer to hike with ease and comfort.
