Merrell Chameleon 7 Storm XX Mid GTX size and fit
A women’s-only day hiking boot, the Merrell Chameleon 7 Storm XX Mid GTX fairly runs true to size. It is offered in medium width and comes in full and half sizes. The lace-up closure of this boot aids in fit customization.
The Chameleon 7 Storm XX Mid GTX has a Vibram TC5+ outsole. Its oblong-shaped lugs are 3 mm deep, granting grip on various terrain. This design does not trap water, hence enhancing its slip resistance on wet grounds.
Providing a lightweight and cushioned ride to this mid-cut day hiking boot is an EVA midsole. It houses the Merrell FlexPlate technology, a full-length stability plate which makes the unit puncture-resistant. It also yields underfoot firmness. Air Cushion is added to the heel to optimize shock absorption.
This boot features the brand-owned Kinetic Fit Base insole. It supports the arches of the foot and renders flexibility. Merrell designers also added their M Select Fresh, an antimicrobial technology, to maintain an odor-free environment.
The ballistic mesh upper of the Merrell Chameleon 7 Storm XX Mid GTX provides durable protection against rock-strewn trails. Its mesh lining and Gore-Tex laminate deliver breathability and waterproofness. The tongue and collar of this boot are amply padded for comfort.
The boot comes with components that keep the foot safe and steady. Its bellows tongue inhibits intrusion of trail debris. It also features a rubber toe cap that safeguards the foot against unwanted bumps. A molded TPU heel counter is responsible for promoting stability.
For fit management, the boot comes with a regular lace closure that includes a round lace, webbing eyelets (with an extra near the toes) and two pairs of open hooks at the top. A rear pull tab allows easy on and off.
